"Torture" doesn't yield results?

So why have we haven't had any followup attacks by the Muslims in the last 13 years? Just wondering.

Seriously, I take with a huge grain of salt any information coming out of DC via the MSM. We have a highly partisan Congress selectively doling out information to biased news organizations and we're supposed to take at face value anything we're told? It reminds me of an old joke supposedly making the rounds in Soviet Russia during the Cold War. Their two major news outlets were Pravda & Ivestia, words that mean "Truth" and "News".

Anyway the joke went that in Pravda there was no Ivestia and in Ivestia there was no Pravda. Lucky them, the Soviets only had two government mouthpieces to deal with.

Even if everything being screamed from the rooftops is ironclad fact, my reaction is "so what"?  Yeah it's a whole different ball game when you're the one being water boarded, I got that. I also roger up that Catholic teaching expressly forbids torture, got that one too.

But one thing I've consistently had trouble wrapping my mind around is how does refraining from certain practices that result in saving innocent lives constitute Christian practice? Do we then view any lives saved due to "torture" as fruit of a forbidden tree? Do we consider those innocents saved from extinction to be somewhat morally flawed? How many lives of innocent civilians are acceptable to be lost if we refrain from "torture", is it fifty, a hundred, how about an entire metropolis?

I'm just a retired submarine mechanic who feels the people should know whats done in their name for their safety. For that reason I'm glad the results of the investigation are starting to see light. Don't bother me with analogies such as the popular one regarding making sausage, i.e. everyone likes the result but no one wants knowledge of how you get it. If we need strong stomachs when presented the information than so be it. But lets own up to being damned glad of any positive results from these practices and lets protect the ones working in our names. They deserve that much loyalty.

As it stands now I've no doubt we'll see a parade of sacrificial lambs led to the bloodied altar of political correctness and hypocritical self righteousness.

Dissing the cops and consequences thereof.

Watching the steady parade of race hustlers run their yaps about Ferguson and NYC brings to mind the 70's and the hollow military we had then.

For anyone reading this who might be unfamiliar with the term, "hollow military" refers to the post Viet Nam military. It was when the armed forces were often held up for contempt and ridicule in popular entertainment, the MSM and even on the floors of Congress, where one Representative who was pushing for reduction in military pay & benefits contemptuously opined, "...they can vote with their feet if they don't like it." when told of the inevitable detriment to morale his actions would have.

"Vote with their feet" is exactly what many good men did back in those days. Whether they couldn't support their families properly, didn't like being treated as second class citizens or they just got fed up with being portrayed in a bad light, many just left. Some of them ended their service well after the ten year mark, the point at which it's often assumed if you go past it you're making the service a career.

Consequently we had undermanned boats which often had crew members that were in the Navy because they couldn't cut the mustard in civilian life. There weren't TOO many men like that, just more than we'd had in times immediately prior and after that interesting decade. In many minds there was the feeling if war broke out we'd be getting our butts kicked from here till breakfast until a draft was instituted and the nation played "catch up" as had happened initially after Pearl Harbor was bombed.

So how does this tie into the denigration of our nation's police in general and specific spots like Ferguson & NYC in particular? Stay with me please, I'll try explaining.

If our nation's police keep getting slammed you can bet there will eventually be an exodus of a lot of qualified men and women. Their places will be filled all too often (after the recruiting standards are lowered) by less than optimum candidates. There will also be a fair number of police departments undermanned and it won't be coincidence that they'll be the ones in the worst areas experiencing crime.

Therefore crime will increase, John & Joan Q. Public will avail themselves of their 2nd Amendment rights, corruption will increase with the attendant increase in bad press from the MSM, vigilante committees will begin cropping up in various hot spots.

We'll either get a national police force (not a good idea, I'll explain in a bit) or we'll descend into permanent chaos, much like out national neighbor to the immediate south of the border.

The idea of a national police force, controlled from D.C. would be bad due to a few factors: A) With such an entity local problems don't get solved locally, they get taken care of by some desk jockey hundreds of miles away from the problem. How effective has that ever proven in other areas? B) Inevitably the members of a national force will be shuffled around, the idea of a local cop who grew up in the same part of the state he presently works in will die off. Along with the end of that locally rooted cop goes a lot of empathy on both his part and that of the local populace for him. C) A national police force is just a bit too much like an occupying army, for proof of that look to Spain under Franco when the Guardia Civil kept firm control of the nation. It wasn't pleasant, at least according to the locals I spoke with at that time.

So it's time for the American people to take a collective deep breath, step back a bit and think of where we're heading. It's time to shut down the professional scaremongers that fan the fires of popular indignation every time some dumbass commits suicide by cop.

Because unlike a "hollow military" where all problems with it are a bit removed from the public eye, a nationwide plague of "hollow police departments" will have immediate and very evident effects.

And it won't be pretty.

“If you're litigating against nuns, you have probably done something wrong,..."

Ya think? Here's the link: http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/michael-w-chapman/sen-cruz-mr-president-when-did-democratic-party-declare-war-catholic

Just MHO but this won't die an easy death, it's one of many flash points coming to prominence in our nation. Yesterday I was talking to the wife (who routinely suffers through my rants) and noted that many optimists believe in 2016 we'll have a replay of when Reagan trounced Carter. In other words a champion of conservative values will ride a landslide of voter indignation to the Oval Office and we'll see a return to the conservative values now in decline. The sun will come out, birds will chirp and the Millenium will be upon us all.

If only.

Sorry folks, back then the biggest item was how to deal with the USSR, Carter & Co. believed in soft pedaling any differences between us while moving forward in the spirit of detente originally fostered by Gerald Ford. Ronnie Rayguns thought we should stand up to the international bully and face him down. God bless Reagan.

This time around things are considerably different. Our country is fighting over gay marriage, the Affordable Care Act, illegal aliens, gun control, global warming/climate change, the role of the nanny state in our lives, how to deal with followers of the Pedophile Prophet  and probably a few more I can't bring immediately to mind.

We're divided on so many topics and if a strong conservative such as Cruz gets placed in the White House, we can expect a backlash of Biblical proportions from the left side of the aisle. It won't be a redux of Reagan/Carter, it'll fall along the lines of another Civil War.

What led us into this diatribe was a visit by the wife and I to the local range, something we haven't done together for quite some time (FWIW she cleaned my clock, I gotta get out more). Anyway, the upshot of the rant was my warning her she ought to get a CHL and start packing some heat before the 2016 election. IMO the shit will hit the fan shortly after Election Day.

On Murrietta Ca. and Lawrenceville, Va. reception of illegal aliens and the coming apocalypse.

If you've read the news you know that out in Murrietta, Ca. town residents blocked access for three buses carrying illegals to a holding facility there. Seems the townsfolk are fed up with the idea of being a dumping ground for potential criminals and disease carriers.

Prior to that, out in Lawrenceville, Va, the residents got their noses out of joint when the administration of a local college agreed to house approx. 500 illegals. Since the town has a whopping 1500 residents this would put a bit of a strain on their facilities. Once again I'm thinking of crime and disease.

People are getting fed up with this crap. The meme of  "what about the children?" isn't working too well evidently. There are some folks trying to fight back and all too soon I believe we'll see a response from the Administration. Will it involve the National Guard? Will there be some violence? You tell me.

But I live in an area with a lot of non English speaking Hispanics, I've no doubt we'll soon see a lot more. My kid's school will accept new kids without question (they're bound by law to act that way). So it's a good thing the wife is an RN with lots of pediatric experience. It's also a good thing we've a fair sized dog and some firearms in the house.

Things are rapidly approaching the breaking point and not just in the area of illegal immigration. The nation is filled with pissed off people. The vets and their families are pissed at the VA, the pro aborts and their cohort are pissed at the Supremes, Catholics, Evangelicals, the gays are pissed at anyone talking about reparative therapy and how getting your fudge packed isn't just an inherited preference, the libs are pissed at the conservatives, the conservatives at the Tea Party, race relations between blacks & whites have taken a nose dive since Obama was elected. The list goes on and on.

Sooner or later some group is going to attack another. Then all Hell will break loose as it mushrooms into score settling and payback time. Toss in a few Muslim jihadists initiating a 9/11 atrocity or two and everything will go up in flames.

Then we'll see an imposition of martial law (I still think it'll happen before 20 Jan 17) as the Feds clamp down on all activities. That will include the internet, cross country travel, etc. A very vocal portion of our population will welcome it, placing security above freedom. All those government agencies that have been buying up ammo will then show why it was purchased as they field their own SWAT-style enforcement teams against the general public. The clampdown will be promised just "for the duration". Noted.

It could happen under either a Democratic or Republican Administration. As I've already mentioned I believe its more likely to occur before any successor to Obama takes office. I might be wrong, it might happen after he leaves. But it's becoming more likely as time goes on.

The groups targeted for persecution will include all the devoutly religious (even Muslims once they've served their purpose), all veterans (especially the younger ones), all 2nd Amendment advocates, all political non conformists. Stay in the middle of the herd or you'll get culled.

Just to make one point here; I don't believe any of this is or was deliberately orchestrated. What we have is a self-absorbed populace electing (twice!) a poster boy for affirmative action. Like all those hired in the name of "diversity" the man is incredibly out of his depth. The incompetence of him and his cronies are the real driving engine here, aided and abetted by an electorate that is too focused on creature comforts and personal gain. But the end result is the same as if there was some sinister puppeteer pulling the unseen strings, i.e. the final destruction of our nation as we knew it.

Maybe I'm as wrong as a football bat, I sure do hope so. But IMO our nation has already died, we're just going through the start of the death rattle.

God help us all, may His will be done.

FCC regarding newsroom monitors. (Update added)

Here's the latest on the FCC monitoring what comes from the newsrooms of the MSM: http://thehill.com/blogs/hillicon-valley/technology/198799-fcc-no-intention-of-regulating-journalism

Basically they're telling the world, "Trust me". That reminds me of an old joke; "How does someone from New York City tell you to get screwed?"

The answer is "Trust me."

I can believe no one has evil intent in regards to this, but then who gets up in the morning, stretches his arms out and shouts, "What a wonderful day! It's time to perpetrate evil in any way possible!"

Hey, even Hitler thought he was justified for his actions. So did Stalin. So did Mao. The list goes on
and on.

This week the FCC will be content with peeking over the shoulders of newsroom workers. In the future whats to prevent them from "suggesting" what stories to cover and in what manner?

Did we forget the lessons taught by the trial of John Peter Zenger? Ae we so far down the road to perdition we completely disregard such things?

UPDATE: Evidently the cockroaches are scurrying out of the light: http://www.politico.com/blogs/media/2014/02/fcc-backs-off-newsroom-study-183772.html

Tinfoil hat time?

So let me see if I understand some recent stories. The DOJ has decided that minority students can't be disciplined in the same manner as their white classmates. The IRS will insure employers don't fire their workers in order to more easily comply with the Affordable Care Act. The DOJ will now recognize all same sex weddings in every state (all 57?) regardless of what local law may proscribe. The head of that same DOJ is now pushing for ex felons to be given the right to vote. The DHS is currently in the market for 141,000 rounds of sniper quality ammo (and it's damn depressing when Alex Jones is accurately covering such a story). The Ohio National Guard recently conducted training under a scenario where right-wing terrorists were the designated foe. Let's not forget the DOD school for the military's EO program has been caught promulgating the notion that conservative Christians and their values are not to be tolerated.

Another way to see it is that the Feds are completely taking over our kids' education and morphing it into genuine propaganda (while all students will be equal some will be more equal than others). The private market place is coming under complete government control. The voter base for our current regime will be expanded by any means possible (I haven't even mentioned pandering to the illegal immigrants). Our government is conditioning the military into a mindset of unquestioning animosity towards traditional values at the same time their prepping for war against the civilian community at large (if you think G.I. Joe will conscientiously refer to the copy of the Constitution he carries in his backpack, think again. Our troops are just as ignorant as their civilian counterparts, after all they DID attend the same schools.).

Did I miss any big ticket items? Am I misstating anything here?

Tell me again how things will magically turn around in 2016 and I'll tell you how I doubt it. Tell me again how we can't possibly be seeing the groundwork laid for the declaration of martial law. Keep telling me and as God is my witness, I hope you'll be right.

Because right now I've a feeling we're all in for a taste of Hell on Earth.

God's will be done, may He have mercy upon us all.

Wendy Davis will be elected Governor of Texas and here is why...

So now it comes out that Wendy Davis fudged on the facts of her life. Big surprise, a politician lying. Somebody catch me as I faint!

I don't believe this will kill her chances on being elected governor here in Texas. The reason? Folks who have an ounce of common sense are too disgusted to vote, that leaves the field wide open for the Dimwit Democrats to take over. If you don't believe me, look at who occupies the White House.

Sorry, I'm bummed out on a regular basis these days. Our nation is gone and all that's left is to wait for the walls to come crashing down. In the meantime I try to focus on the most important thing; raising my children.

A Texas Mother Thanks Dear Leader...

Evidently this little missive is making the rounds of the internet;

Dear President Obama,

I wanted to take a moment to say thank you for all you have done and are doing. You see I am a single Mom located in the very small town of Palmer, Texas. I live in a small rental house with my two children. I drive an older car that I pray daily runs just a little longer. I work at a mediocre job bringing home a much lower paycheck than you or your wife could even imagine living on. I have a lot of concerns about the new “Obamacare” along with the taxes being forced on us Americans and debts you are adding to our country. I have a few questions for you Mr. President.

Have you ever struggled to pay your bills? I have.

Have you ever sat and watched your children eat and you eat what was left on their plates when they were done, because there wasn’t enough for you to eat to? I have.

Have you ever had to rob Peter to pay Paul, and it still not be enough? I have.

Have you ever been so sick that you needed to see a doctor and get medicine, but had no health insurance because it was too expensive? I have.

Have you ever had to tell your children no, when they asked for something they needed? I have.

Have you ever patched holes in pants, glued shoes, replaced zippers, because it was cheaper than buying new? I have.

Have you ever had to put an item or two back at the grocery store, because you didn’t have enough money? I have.

Have you ever cried yourself to sleep, because you had no clue how you were going to make ends meet? I have.

My questions could go on and on. I don’t believe you have a clue what Americans are actually going through and honestly, I don’t believe you care. Not everyone lives extravagantly. While your family takes expensive trips that cost more than most of us make in two-four years, there are so many of us that suffer. Yet, you are doing all you can to add to the suffering. I think you are a very selfish and cold hearted man, who does not care what is best for the people he was elected by (not by me) to represent, but more so out for the glory of your name attached to history. So thank you Mr. President, thank you for pushing those of us that are barely staying afloat completely under water and driving America into the ground. You have made your mark in history, as the absolute worst and most hated president of the United States. God have mercy on your soul!

Sincerely,

Yolanda Vestal

Time for a revolution.

Here's why: http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/Closure-of-War-Memorials-Continues-to-Cause-Conflict-226481851.html

When you can't even pay your respects to the dead due to political games then somebody needs an ass whipping.

It wasn't bad enough that the Viet Nam War was so mismanaged that we're still not too certain WHY we were over there. It wasn't bad enough that the MSM was actively seeking out every nitwit who would trash talk the military and present their opinion as "thoughtful commentary". It wasn't bad enough that anyone fighting there became fair game for the politcally correct self-adulating numbskulls of our nation's colleges & universities. It wasn't bad enough that when our troops exposed to Agent Orange started having problems from it, the intial reaction was "What a bunch of whiners, the good ole US of A would NEVER do that to our own!". It wasn't bad enough that idiots like Jane Fonda and John Kerry profited by vilifying those who served. It wasn't bad enough that initially Viet Nam vets were barred from membership in the VFW because "Viet Nam wasn't REALLY a war" (this was the sentiment from members of the so called "Greatest Generation").

Nope, now they can't even honor their dead.

It's time for someone to get their ass whipped (I already said that but it needed repeating).

Obama as King Canute?

You can't make this stuff up: http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2013/10/05/Feds-Try-to-Close-the-OCEAN-Because-of-Shutdown

Well he DID say that if he was elected the planet would heal and oceans recede. Maybe this is a part of that.

Rodeo Clowns and disemboweling Sarah Palin...

The flap over a comedy routine in an obscure rodeo just won't die. The hype and hyperbole continues, evidently to lampoon Dear Leader Obama is to court disaster. Noted.

Funny thing, I never heard boo about this particular act directed towards Sarah Palin: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D6VCQgA9FnI

Most folks never heard of GWAR, then again most folks don't go to rodeos. I've lived in the Southwest for a total of almost twenty years and have been to exactly one. That was when I was fourteen, living in a high desert farming community in California where the biggest event of the year was the alfalfa festival & rodeo. Entertainment was where you found it back then. Whatever.

My point here is that it's a manufactured outrage, the venue was so small and would ordinarily have been so out-of-the-way that the clown could have sodomized a bull and as long as he wasn't wearing that Obama mask darned little attention would have been given.

The selective outrage continues to dominate the headlines. In the meantime the topics of "Fast & Furious", the IRS selectively auditing Administration critics, the truth of what happened in Benghazi, the full disclosure of what the NSA is doing all get swept under the rug.

Nothing to see here, move along.

Huckstering for Hillary

So it begins. Evidently the successor for Obama has been chosen and anointed; http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/jul/28/nbc-announces-hillary-clinton-miniseries-starring-/

At times I hear of how we'll see the Dems go down in certain defeat after the incompetence shown from 2008-2016. Supposedly it'll be a replay of Reagan trouncing Carter. Funny thing, this particular bit of wishful thinking first came on the scene about 2006 and was touted as happening in 2012. That's worked out so well, hasn't it?

Here's a bit of news for those wishful thinkers who believe our nation can be resurrected again in the same manner as happened in the elections of 1980, there is NO Reaganesque figure in sight. We saw the strongest contenders for that title eliminated by the GOP establishment due to their being too divisive. I'm talking about the likes of Rick Santorum, Herman Cain and Michele Bachman. We were given a comparatively mild-mannered, go-along-to-get-along type candidate and he cratered.

IMO we'll soon see a steady stream of propaganda extolling the virtues and competence of Madam Hillary. There will be a complete disregard for things such as her ineptitude displayed as Secretary of State or her time as a Senator or FLOTUS. No mention will be made of Benghazi, Whitewater, Vince Foster, "Travelgate" or the Rose Law Firm.

With no credible opponent to contend with, Hillary Clinton will be elected as our first female President. This will take place amongst those things I've mentioned in other posts, i.e. the possible imposition of martial law, greater surveillance by government entities, a crackdown on those who qualify as potential right-wing terrorists. That iron shod boot stomping on the face of Lady Liberty will take the form of a stiletto heel.

God's will be done, may He have mercy upon us all.

The Zimmerman case and dogs not barking...

Okay, the Zimmerman trial is over but the furor continues. See the stories here, here, and here for a taste of whats going on.

Our self-styled masters are happily watching while the hoi-poli get their panties in a twist while ignoring the slight of hand being played out right in front of our eyes.

In the last week or so have we seen anything about Benghazi, the NSA monitoring of all communications (yep, Snowden's flight has gotten SOME press. It's a side issue to the problem he brought to light), the wiretapping of the AP by the FBI? Nope, I haven't seen much (if anything) either.

Instead of that we're fed sensationalist crap. Yeah, Zimmerman's trial held a lot of folks' attention. Many people could relate to either the defendant or the deceased youth he shot. Got it.

But that identification only served to allow us to be further divided. For this I place the blame squarely on the shoulders of our politicians. Examples can be found here, here and here.

Chief amongst them is what our Commander-in-Chief has said. Hey, didja notice that his words do NOTHING to pour oil on troubled waters, that they allow another opening for the topic of gun control (never let a crisis go to waste)?

The MSM continues it's love affair with all liberal thinking. as proven here. No oil on troubled waters from that quarter either. I originally thought they weren't giving a lot of coverage to the riotous aftermath that is now growing since the trial verdict came in due to a desire to help keep the lid on things. No such luck. If they'd actually been trying to tone down the violence the airheads I just cited would have been muzzled. So why are the incidents of unrest being downplayed by our own media so that the most reliable reporting comes from the likes of the BBC? My guess is that by keeping it off the front page there'll be more time for it to further evolve and take root. Then when it finally does hit the front page of our local fish wrap it will be accompanied by loud cries for our government to "do something" and the more drastic the better. Maybe by itself it can't be used for imposition of marital law, but toss in another Boston Marathon type bombing or Sandy Hook shooting and who knows what we'll be ready to accept in the way of our liberties being curtailed?

All of this goes on while those items we should actually be concerned about die a quiet death. Heard anything lately about Fast & Furious? Me neither. The questions about Benghazi are petering out of the news also. Ditto for the FBI wiretapping the AP. As previously mentioned the only thing we hear with any regularity about the NSA is an update on Snowden's whereabouts. The REAL questions are being ignored, questions such as "If this surveillance was so great how was it the Boston Marathon got bombed like it did?"

We're being played like a piano, the government and it's MSM lackeys might as well be Van Cliburn.

Look, I followed the Zimmerman trial as avidly as anyone else. But at the end of the day, just how important was it? Never mind my personal opinions on whether justice was done, anyone who spent five minutes reading this blog can figure that one out. The trial and verdict ARE-NOT-IMPORTANT!! Sensational courtroom drama comes and goes, we've seen the OJ trial, the Michael Jackson trial, the Kermit Gosnell trial, and the beat goes on. How much importance did ANY of these exercises in jurisprudence have for the average man on the street? The answer is Z-I-P-P-O.

Nowhere near as important as the erosion of our liberties. The things we should be getting riled up about are kept out of sight as much as possible. In their place we're offered a lot of intellectual fluff.

Well continue to see these charades played out. As more scandals come to light, more of them will be relegated to the back pages of the local fishwrap while "human interest" type stories take over the front page. Some kid in East Oshkosh will fall down a well and it'll be above the fold, dead center on Page One. At the same time any followup on the items I've already mentioned just MIGHT get some play on page ten.

While this goes on, the public in general will become more restless, they'll know theres more happening as they see or hear of riots in their area taking place. I'm not talking strictly about racial problems either. More and more discontent will grow and when the time is right and the powers that be feel they can do it, we'll see a nationwide crackdown on dissent. Suddenly the country's unrest will be acknowledged as our "fearless leaders" step up to the plate to address it. They'll declare martial law, impose curfews, silence all social media. Our nation will be in lockdown mode.

After that things start getting bad.

May God's will be done and may He have mercy upon us all.

On movies and social statements.

I hate movies with a "message". Really, I go to see things get blown up big (Die Hard 1-5 and counting, The Expendables 1&2, The Road Warrior) have my brains twisted (The Usual Suspects, The Perfect Host) or maybe hope theres a good adaptation from the book the movie was inspired by (Lord of The Rings, Harry Potter) and sometimes just to see if a flick is as bad as I've heard (Tank Girl, The Toxic Avenger, Five Fingers of Death, Eight-Legged Freaks, MegaShark vs. Giant Octopus, Surf Nazis Must Die).

But movies with a "message" just leave me cold. Honestly, I want my flicks to have the same social/political insight as the popcorn I wolf down.

But maybe I'll be bending that particular rule soon. It seems that "Ender's Game" is coming out later this year. I'm no fan of Orson Scott Card, never read any of his stuff as my taste in sci-fi goes towards the works of authors like Asimov, Blish, Anderson, Sturgeon. Basically if they're dead, they're my favorites. Card is very much alive and so he doesn't qualify.

So much alive that he's evidently ticking off a lot of gay folks.Theres supposedly a boycott being pushed for Ender's Game. Yep, they're gonna send a message to that mean ole homophobe. As far as I can see his big sin is using his fame to promote his personal beliefs. Whoop-dee-dew-dah-day and what public figure these days DOESN'T do that? Maybe Alice Cooper refrains but only because he thinks people who get their political views from rock-and-rollers are dumber than dirt (gotta love a guy who uses a guillotine in his concerts).

Anyway, I think I might go see "Ender's Game" when it comes out. I'll do it for the same reason I started eating at Chick-fil-a, I don't like bully boys. Would I do the same if the man was gay and being boycotted by a bunch of Christians? Probably, as long as the movie in question didn't have some sort of "message". Hey, I saw the last two Harry Potter flicks after J.K. Dowling said Dumbledore was gay, so why not?

Now wheres the popcorn stand?

Children as agents of the State...

Well it wasn't enough that some schools had their children actually singing the praises of Obama: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/09/24/review-ordered-video-showing-students-singing-praises-president-obama/ . Nope, no reason to stop there.

Now we have school kids being indoctrinated to shill for government programs: http://news.investors.com/politics-andrew-malcolm/062813-661774-los-angeles-schools-teach-students-to-enroll-parents-in-obamacare.htm

So the next logical step would be for the little darlings to monitor their parent's response to such tactics, noting when their family expresses skepticism or outright derision. All of that can be reported back to the school who will notify the appropriate authorities.

Who might those authorities be? Well anyone tasked with preventing child abuse or neglect and the expression of negative opinions regarding hallowed government programs would certainly indicate a large potential for abuse. We can't be too careful, remember this is all for the sake of the children.

Do you think these are tin foil hat type ruminations? I hope they are, I truly hope thats all they are.

God have mercy upon us all and may His will be done.

But I don't feel like a Viking!

Some of the commentary I run across that downplays the seriousness of (taking a deep breath so I can say it nonstop) the scandals of Benghazi, the IRS targeting conservative and religious groups, the FBI zeroing in on pro life entities, the NSA accessing phone records for the AP, the TSA being able to monitor truckers and other means of mass transit and the disclosure of "Operation Prism" seems to be summed up as "all is well, don't worry your little head about these things.". These are conservative sites and pundits that espouse this too.

It puts me in mind of this: http://youtu.be/d8IBnfkcrsM Just as the inhabitants of Hy-Brazil wanted to believe nothing had changed, that life would go on as before, so do too many folk who want to believe there is no rot in our current culture.

Come to think of it, I DID have a cousin named Eric. He wasn't a Viking either.

Find you, persecute you, prosecute you (if they don't just kill you). Welcome to what was once the USA.

Now I don't know what we can call this nation.

Here's the latest piece of the totalitarian jigsaw puzzle: http://www.forbes.com/sites/andygreenberg/2013/06/05/nsas-verizon-spying-order-specifically-targeted-americans-not-foreigners/

So lets review what we know has been going on while the MSM concentrated on who was coming or going on "American Idol", what some actress might have been doing with her boobs and other vitally important news.

We have a DHS who consider strict constructionists of Constitutional interpretation, veterans, pro life groups and other conservative entities as breeding grounds for right wing extremism: http://cdm16064.contentdm.oclc.org/cdm/singleitem/collection/p266901coll4/id/3267/rec/3

The same DHS is arming itself to the teeth (along with the EPA and Social Security Administration): http://www.forbes.com/sites/ralphbenko/2013/03/11/1-6-billion-rounds-of-ammo-for-homeland-security-its-time-for-a-national-conversation/

In the interest of sanity and fairness, I'll note the reality of that last item is still being debated: http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2013/04/04/The-Great-DHS-Ammunition-Stockpile-Myth

But we're also seeing the IRS targeting conservative political and religious groups (no hyperlink needed here).

The FBI is also in on the action as they question a national pregnancy center director: http://www.lifesitenews.com/news/fbi-terrorism-task-force-wants-to-question-national-crisis-pregnancy-center

Lest that last appear to be an anomaly, down in Dallas we've had a similar event recently: http://www.jillstanek.com/2012/07/obama-administrations-harassment-of-pro-lifers-gets-personal/

If the government can't get you via the IRS and FBI, theres always the EPA: http://townhall.com/tipsheet/erikajohnsen/2012/04/13/sackett_v_epa_the_battle_is_won_but_the_war_is_just_beginning and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sackett_v._Environmental_Protection_Agency

While the "good guys" won the battle in that case, the war continues. How may similar scenarios are played out where the defendants don't have the resources to fight Big Brother?

Even the military chaplains aren't exempt from government mandated thought control: http://spectator.org/archives/2013/01/09/muzzling-military-chaplains

Nor is the DOJ: http://townhall.com/columnists/toddstarnes/2013/05/28/doj-tells-employees-to-verbally-affirm-homosexuality-n1607910/page/full

Resistance is futile, you will be assimilated.

So where do we go from here? I sure don't know. But answering strictly for myself I'll say that raising my children in the right manner, no matter how difficult that is becoming, is my primary concern. Maybe it's just an attitude of denial but I DO NOT believe the current trend towards government sanctioned immorality and oppression will continue indefinitely. Something has to give way.

Maybe we're in store for a Biblical level butt whipping, we're certainly regressing to the level of Sodom & Gomorrah. Maybe we'll see a Great Awakening in this land before things decay further.

Perhaps it's only wishful thinking on my part. Perhaps we're doomed to become nothing more than a biped version of an ant colony. Maybe thoughts and hopes to the contrary are just an exercise of whistling past the graveyard.

I don't know. But for myself, I will not stop pushing for whats right. Call it quixotic, but really, what choice do any of us who believe in following Christ have? As we say in AA, "Fake it till you make it".

God's will be done, may He have mercy upon us all.

UPDATE: Looks like I should have waited a bit, seems the surveillance by Big Brother was more extensive than first believed: http://www.washingtonpost.com/investigations/us-intelligence-mining-data-from-nine-us-internet-companies-in-broad-secret-program/2013/06/06/3a0c0da8-cebf-11e2-8845-d970ccb04497_story.html

What jerks my chain is the fact that they missed the Boston Marathon Bombers. If this was such a vitally necessary program, it should have been effective enough to catch those two yahoos. Instead it seems the focus is on Average John Q. Public. Couple that with the above mentioned stories AND one I forgot: http://www.cnn.com/2012/01/28/travel/tsa-vipr-passenger-train-searches and we've all the makings of a completely Orwellian society. We're there, all it takes now is an overt push to silence dissent and enforce groupthink.

See you in the Chestnut Tree Cafe, where we'll drink our Victory Gin and toast the health of Big Brother.

More on military religious intolerance...

Here's the linked article: http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Peace/2013/04/28/Pentagon-Consults-Extremist-Who-Calls-Christians-Monsters-and-Enemies-of-the-Constitution-to-Develop-Religious-Tolerance-Policy

Like it or not, Breitbart is often right on top of things.

So what do we have when the military muzzles the chaplains who will stand for it and tosses out those who won't? What do we get when it's so politically correct in terms of supporting gays, feminine supremacists, and other groups formerly weeded out on a routine basis?

Heck if I know, but it won't be any sort of world class military, thats for sure.

At a guess I'd say it will have senior commissioned officer ranks even more heavily staffed with those whose main concern is personal advancement via attentively kissing political butt. In the meantime the lower ranks will be filled with self identified "victims" of conventional morality. Imagine that, a bunch of raging grudge holders given weapons.

All we need now is the right candidate to fill the role of a secular savior (Buzz Windrip from the novel "It Can't Happen Here" comes to mind) and we'll be in more trouble than you can shake a stick at. No, I don't believe it would be Obama. He'll merely set the stage, he's too incompetent for anything else. I think it will happen after he leaves office, the nation will be in a shambles by that time. Folks will be so sick and tired of what will have become the norm economically that they'll cheerfully sell their souls for something different. Could be another Democrat, could be a Republican, could be some self styled political outsider whose populist appeal would rival that of Ross Perot or Sarah Palin.

It's things like this that keep me praying for the safety of my family in years to come.

God's will be done and may He have mercy upon us all.

Sister Mary Tarantula used to try this trick too...

So now the White House has provided "proof" that Dear Leader actually shot a gun at Camp David. Here's the link and please note the admonishment about altering the pic: http://www.breitbart.com/InstaBlog/2013/02/02/White-House-Warns-Don-t-Photoshop-Obama-Gun-Pic

Good thing they put out that warning: http://moonbattery.com/?p=25085 and http://moonbattery.com/?p=25046 plus http://moonbattery.com/?p=25094 and last but certainly not least: http://www.thepeoplescube.com/peoples-blog/caption-barry-gets-his-gun-t10649.html

Authoritarian assholes never learn the simple lesson that if you tell people who dislike you not to do something, they'll do it! Just as sure as God made little green apples.

Yes, Sister Mary Tarantula got pretty much the same reaction. We didn't have computers then. Hell ballpoint pens were all the rage, they sure beat the snot out of cartridge pens, which were better than fountain pens. But now I'm just dating myself. Sometime I'll have to relate how an entire class of 8th graders ran out of a Catholic elementary school and screaming for a nun to get screwed We got away with it too! Ah, the 60's!

Thanks for listening.

"Brown shirts" keeps running through my mind.

http://www.politico.com/story/2013/01/obama-campaign-to-relaunch-as-tax-exempt-group-86375.html

Honestly, this whole organization will be centered around Obama and the implementation of his policies. Doesn't that give anyone else the creeps?

Side note: as I keep saying, it won't be blacks that will enforce Dear Leader's wishes. It'll be white liberals. If you think thats unlikely, I recommend reading up on what happened to the Jews under the Nazis, one of the vital steps in instituting persecution was the selection of a Council of Jewish Elders who would deal with the Nazis. The implementation of the Final Solution never got anywhere if that didn't happen. I am NOT blaming the victim here, just citing history.

I'm currently reading "Eichmann in Jerusalem" by Hannah Arendt, it's loaded with half-forgotten or completely discarded tidbits like that.

In these days it's very easy to draw parallels between our current Administration and that of a former totalitarian government. Very easy.

Am I saying that white folk will be the new "Jews" of the 21st Century? Not hardly, But it's a subset of mostly whites who have been steadily demonized with increasingly vitriolic rhetoric. That group would be those deemed wealthy. To see how that might pan out, remember how property owners were treated under Mao in China. Once they were no longer the scapegoats it became the turn of the well educated. So persecution isn't necessarily based on race, ethnicity or religion. Just be a bit better off than everyone else, thats all it takes.

Things like this make me wonder about other items. Remember the recent stories concerning armor piercing ammo bought by various government agencies? Where is it, who has access to it? How about the increasing use of drones for surveilllance of our cities? Here's a bit more on that topic; http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2012/dec/21/coming-drone-attack-america

The current furor over our 2nd Amendment needs no further elaboration in this post.

Meanwhile, our Fourth Estate continues selectively reporting the news. An example of that will be the lack of or under reporting of the National March For Life to be held tomorrow, the 19th of January. If you're not familiar with it, here's the site: http://www.marchforlife.org/ My money says it'll get diddle squat in the way of coverage, just like last year. Even if theres a butt ton of reporting on the event, the fact that it has been ignored by the MSM up till now adequately makes my point, i.e. we're being fed a diet of carefully edited news to help shape our views and opinions. Do I believe theres a conscious effort for most of this? No, for as Bernard Goldberg wrote in "Bias: A CBS Insider Exposes How the Media Distort the News" it doesn't take much conscious thought if you're surrounded by like minded folks.

But the result is the same. We're being steadily brainwashed for "our own good", taught to accept more restrictions on our freedoms and greater interference from the Nanny State. Here's another example:  http://cnsnews.com/blog/craig-bannister/student-kicked-out-school-refusing-wear-rfid-tracking-badge-following-failed

So in the end we may all find ourselves at the Chestnut Tree Cafe, drinking our Victory Gin and toasting the health of Big Brother.
