On self-styled "manly men".

I just got off the phone with the War Department who is at work. She's an RN and didn't fall off the turnip truck yesterday.

For our mutual entertainment she related how the relative of a patient tried impressing her (probably attempting to put a run on her, lottsa luck there chumley!)

This dipzoid relates how he was a corpsman in the Navy, "which is just like an RN" (no stupid, the corpsmen are enlisted while all RN's are commissioned officers) and that he became a Physician's Assistant before his enlistment of six years ended (last time I checked, making PA involved becoming a warrant officer. That entails a career path of normally 10-12 years before you can apply).

For some reason he quickly shut up and walked away after the WD smiled and told him she was married to a retired senior chief with 22 years in the canoe club.

DUHH!

I'll never figure out why people have to try lying like that. Even at my drunkest when I was trying to pick up chicks I had enough self-respect to be honest. I mean if you're not proud of the life you're living, change it! We can't all be John Wayne or Rambo and to tell the truth, who would want to be? Life is a real pain in the ass when you're always getting in fights or shot at!

But bullshitters like him are all over and you can always spot them by the way they immediately try to impress everyone they can about who they want you to imagine they are.

I'll always remember the SEAL team we carried aboard my last command. Their senior enlisted man was a senior chief, a real nice guy. Never said "BOO" to anyone. When he had some down time he just sat in the CPO quarters with the rest of us shooting the shit about life in general. We didn't know squat about him from his own mouth. Just a quiet guy fitting in with the rest of us.

It was from the rest of his team we found out he was rated one of the top snipers they had. They didn't go into details, SEALs can be pretty closemouthed, but we could put all the pieces together.

There was a guy who probably could have told some hair raising stories. But he never did. Guess he was happy in what he did and didn't feel the need to prove anything.

The only time he bragged about anything he did was when another chief and myself were playing "one up" on each other about how we made sacrifices for our kids. There had been a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles show that we both took our children to, I proudly bragged I'd sat in the front row. The other chief countered by telling me he'd come early and left late. Yadda, yadda, yadda.

We went on like that for about five minutes when the SEAL senior chief quietly spoke up and said, "I sat with my daughters in back to back concerts of the New Kids On The Block."

Now how the hell do you top THAT one?

A conference of Muslim and Christian leaders aimed at promoting interfaith dialogue ended here sidestepping the thorny issue of religious fundamentalism.

The four day event hosted by the Yale University Divinity School is the first of a series of Christian-Muslim talks to be held around the world. Future events will be hosted in Britain, at the Vatican, and in Jordan.

Some 150 religious leaders and academics gathered for the event -- mainly protestant theologians and evangelical leaders on the Christian side, and Shiites, Sunnis and Sufis on the Muslim side. Six Jewish guests were present as observers.

"The practical issues included world poverty, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the situation in Palestine and Israel, the danger of further wars, and the freedom of religion," said Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad bin Talal of Jordan, describing the closed-door meetings.

The final declaration, approved by consensus, states that Muslims and Christians "affirm the unity and absoluteness of God.

"We recognize that God's merciful love is infinite, eternal and embraces all things. This love is central to both our religions and is at the heart of the Judeo-Christian-Islamic monotheistic heritage."

Yale theology professor Miroslav Volf said that the 'absoluteness of God' should not be understood as that of an all-powerful divinity, but rather as that of a being that irradiates love.

"It is not just the love of God, but love of neighbor also," Volf, the event organizer, told AFP.

That view of God excludes any extremism, Volf said. "You might die but you will die sacrificing your life on behalf of others rather than killing yourself so that others may die as well," he said.


In September Volf is scheduled to co-teach a course at Yale with British former prime minister
Tony Blair titled "Faith and Globalization."

The final text of the meeting avoids mentioning Christian or Muslim fundamentalist ideologies, though the final declaration does "denounce and deplore threats made against those who engage in interfaith dialogue."

A similar dialogue between Anglicans and Muslims is scheduled for October at Cambridge University in Britain, and between Catholics and Muslims at the Vatican in November.

In March there will be another conference at Georgetown University in the US capital to look at social and political issues, and a final gathering will be held in October 2009 at the Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought in Jordan.

The idea behind the inter-faith conferences followed the October 2007 publication of an open letter to Christians signed by 138 Muslim leaders in 40 countries.

This isn't anything but a way to make the Islamists look good. They can say, " Hey, we've been dialoging so you KNOW we're okay guys." At the same time the asskissing Christians at this thing can point out that, "They really DO think like us, we just have to find common ground and everything will be hunky-dory." Noted.

The same crap happened during the Cold War, every now and then you'd hear about some kumbayay singing group of fools meeting up with their supposed Russian counterparts and gushing about the splendid similarities they share with us. It was all bullshit.

If this thing were serious there'd have been some really blunt and easily understood statements about terrorism. Lovely, just another example of the fine art of mental masturbation.

I don't doubt that the Anglicans will fall all over themselves trying to get in the asskissing line, let's hope things are different at the Vatican.

English Catholic Church adoption agency caves to gay laws.

IMHO someone is missing a set of balls. This agency should be shut down, if that isn't possible the Catholic Church should completely disassociate itself from it.

If homosexual acts are wrong, then to place an impressionable child in an enviornment where those acts are condoned and practiced is equally wrong. Forget the crap about "greater good". Every child now placed by this group in the home of a homosexual couple is at risk for emulating that "lifestyle". So this adoption agency is now compliant in the moral degradation of minors.

Things like this make me laugh when the conspiracy theory lovers start shrieking that the Catholic Church is out to rule the world. Our bishops are so pathetically spineless they won't even stand up for the sake of innocent children. The "go along to get along mentality" kicks in and any integrity goes out the window.

Set the bishops' balls on a razor blade's edge and they'd look like BB's in the middle of an interstate. Phooey.

UPDATE: I found this statement from then Cardinal Ratzinger when he opined on the subject some time ago. It covers it so much better than I ever could, maybe that's why he's the Pope and I'm just a stay-at-home dad trying to perfect his apple pies. Here it is:

As experience has shown, the absence of sexual complementarity in these unions creates obstacles in the normal development of children who would be placed in the care of such persons. They would be deprived of the experience of either fatherhood or motherhood. Allowing children to be adopted by persons living in such unions would actually mean doing violence to these children, in the sense that their condition of dependency would be used to place them in an environment that is not conducive to their full human development. This is gravely immoral and in open contradiction to the principle, recognized also in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, that the best interests of the child, as the weaker and more vulnerable party, are to be the paramount consideration in every case.

Can you say, "set-up"?

Sure you can.

I'm not one to endorse strip clubs. Back in the day I went to my share of them, secure in the "knowledge" that it was a free country and if Susie wanted to take it all off I had no problem with it.

Then I stopped drinking and in the process went to a hell of a lot of AA. meetings. I can't tell you the number of times I heard some woman tell of how she wound up dancing naked just to support her drug habit ( a lot of addicts went to the AA meetings I frequented, they claimed it was better than Narcotics Anonymous ).

Hearing that crap took the glamor away from Susie strutting around wearing nothing but a smile.

Having said all that, reading this story I really think it stinks of a setup. A 17 year old who just happens to be the sheriff's niece? And her parents found out? How did that last happen, when I was that age you can bet all my buddies would have clammed right up around any adults. They'd have made any omerta obsessed mafioso look like a blabbermouth. Something smells about this one.

And whoever was running that "art center" had their head up their ass. They can't look at a chick that young and figure it's better to be safe than sorry? I don't care how she was stacked, somebody was asleep at the switch. Having been a bartender I can vouch that you develop a sense for underage kids trying to get away with crap like this.

I hope they shut the place down but the way it's being done still doesn't pass the stink test.

The open borders crowd are as racist as the KKK.

Here's a story about a recent raid by ICE.

Gee, it really makes tears well up in the eyes doesn't it? Damn those bigots who want to send Juan, Jose and Maria back where they came from, can't they see the poor souls just want a job? The grandkids lost their friends? Shades of Old Yeller, I'm gonna bawl any second now.

But hang on a moment, here's another story about the raid, with a slightly different spin to it.

Kids as young as 13? Seventeen hour days working with razor sharp equipment? Hey, even in Uncle Sam's Canoe Club we'd never get away with that crap, one accident where a sailor got sliced open and you can bet every swinging dick that was involved with an operation like that would be hanging higher than Haman.

Here's my point, all the sympathy seems to be going towards those poor illegals and all the animosity towards anyone who wants our laws enforced. Those who advocate the cause of the illegals are seen as compassionate, Christ-like humanitarians. Yet in this situation we can see a case of defacto slavery. It's that way and not just at this one meat packing plant either. You can bet anytime some pickup stops at an area where illegals wait for work, the guy behind the wheel is trying for the cheapest labor possible. And it ain't minimum wage we're talking about here.

If the continued flood of illegals isn't perpetuating child abuse, slave labor and racially based injustice in the work place I'll eat this keyboard.

The open borders crowd continually appeals to our humanity. Fine. Maybe someone can explain how an unrestricted flow of illegals will NOT result in incidents such as the second linked article detailed. As I already said, you can bet this meat packing plant is NOT an anomaly. This happens because the illegals work under the table and they certainly can't speak up when they should. It will stay that way as long as the borders are unsecured. Even if every stinking illegal alien presently within our borders was granted amnesty tomorrow the preference of employers such as this meatpacking plant would still be for those in the shadows of our society. The flood of illegals would continue, workplace horror stories such as this would remain and nothing would change for the better.

When you get right down to it the open borders crowd is just a bunch of racists trying their damndest to feel good about themselves. That's it. Where is the outrage over a 13 year old kid working in that enviornment? Where is the horror expressed for the 16 year old who worked seventeen hour shifts? That crap never gets addressed by the useful idiots protesting enforcement of our laws. They're so busy practicing the fine art of verbal masturbation they can't be bothered with little things like that.

Yet those of us who want to secure our borders are the ones tarred with the brush of bigotry. Go figure.

The shape of things to come on the enviornmental front?

Here's the story from the land of fruits & nuts (taken from www.mercurynews.com );

California public students will stick to reading, writing and arithmetic, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger decided as he vetoed a bill late Friday that would have required climate change be added to schools' curriculum.

The measure, sponsored by state Sen. Joe Simitian, D-Palo Alto, also would have required future science textbooks to include climate change as a subject.

In January, the state Senate approved the bill, SB 908, by a 26-13 vote. Only two Republicans supported the proposal.

In his veto statement, Schwarzenegger said he supported education that spotlights the dangers of climate change. However, the Republican governor said he was opposed to educational mandates from Sacramento.

"I continue to believe that the state should refrain from being overly prescriptive in specific school curriculum, beyond establishing rigorous academic standards," he said.

Schwarzenegger added that the state's Integrated Waste Management Board's Office of Education and Environment, along with California's Environmental Protection Agency, are creating an environmental curriculum for K-12 students that includes climate change issues.

Simitian had said his bill wouldn't dictate what to teach; rather, it would require the state Board of Education and state Department of Education to decide how the topic would be covered and which grades would study it.

So the Governator was the only thing standing between the schools and mandatory teaching of the newest secular religion? The article mentions the subject being covered by the state's Integrated Waste Management Board's Office of Education and Environment, along with California's Environmental Protection Agency. Evidently California's students aren't out of these woods yet.

So when will this crap come to the rest of us? And you can bet having your children homeschooled or sent to parochial institutions will be no insurance against having to learn this junk.

Junk it is, because the powers that be won't stop with noting any climate change, they'll continue on to what they deem the cause of it. Never mind that it still hasn't been proven humanity is responsible for global warming, the adherents of this faith will hysterically hyperventilate at the top of their lungs how it's ALL OUR FAULT AND WE SHOULD BE SO ASHAMED OF OURSELVES!! Thats the point where it becomes pure junk, when it's used to further the agenda of the treehuggers.

This garbage will be poured into the minds of our youth who will accept it as fact and another round in the culture war will go to the nattering nabobs of academia.

Movie Review: The Jane Austen Book Club

It's a chick flick to end all chick flicks! If your old lady walks into the house carrying this thing, RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!

It's worse than, "Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood". At least that dog was weird enough to make it bearable.

It's worse than, "Fried Green Tomatoes". At least that hacker had the scene where the asshole husband gets served up in the barbecue (the secret is in the sauce).

It's worse than, "Beaches". That at least had Bette Midler doing the Titslinger routine onstage.

This thing is the uberchickflick. I'll have to watch "Das Boot" tonight to cleanse my mind. Maybe even rent "The Road Warrior" to get the testosterone level back up.

If I had a hacker card it would be maxed out on this flick alone. BLEAAGGHH!!

Gays in the military.

This will be a post that might get me slammed left, right and sideways. Let's start with this news item.

I originally enlisted Dec. 20, 1970, retiring Jan. 31, 1993. Almost every damned command I served on had peterpuffers and fudgepackers that everyone knew of but were never bothered by. The "gay blades" kept it in their pants till they were on their home turf. What happened there only God knows and (thankfully) He ain't telling. They wanted to stay in the military and were competent in their jobs so nobody gave a damn what they did once they were ashore. More often than not it was an open secret that everyone would joke about, including the homosexuals.

Having said all that I'll make the observation that "don't ask, don't tell" was a joke to start with. The formal revocation of that assinine policy will now open the door for the agenda driven homosexuals to push for more concessions from the military.

During my 22 years in the canoe club I saw vastly different standards of conduct applied to white males as opposed to females and minorities. Quite often there needed to be no formal policy for this, it was just cowardly senior personnel running scared at the thought of someone calling them a bigot.

With the revoking of "don't ask, don't tell" we'll see a lot more of the same with the gay community.

It was an act of stupidity to formally create this policy in the first place. Let the damned thing die a quiet death.

Homosexuality was best addressed by an old chief who gave an indoctrination lecture to my recruit company during the first week of boot camp. As I best recall, the lecture went along these lines (and the emphasis was his);

"If you are caught committing an act of theft you will be prosecuted under the Uniform Code of Military Justice."

If you are caught committing an act of assault you will be prosecuted under the Uniform Code of Military Justice."

If you are caught committing an act of adultery you will be prosecuted under the Uniform Code of Military Justice."

If you are caught engaging in homosexual acts you will be prosecuted under the Uniform Code of Military Justice."

And on and on and on.... The damned thing took about an hour, theres a lot to cover in the UCMJ.

Every good sailor knows the Eleventh Commandment; "Thou shalt not get caught."

Yes, I was a good sailor.

THIS is why you hire an exterminator!!

NEW YORK, (Reuters Life!) - A New Jersey man trying to exterminate insects in his apartment blew it up instead, the New York Daily News reported on Monday.

Isias Vidal Maceda was unhurt in the incident, but 80 percent of his apartment was destroyed, Eatontown, New Jersey police told the newspaper.

The accident occurred as Maceda was spraying for pests in his kitchen. Somehow the bug spray ignited a blast that blew out the apartment's front windows and triggered a fire that quickly spread, the newspaper said.

Police told the newspaper that the Saturday blaze also caused smoke damage to the apartment above.

We had critters a few years back, Texas is loaded with them. One visit by the exterminator and our problems were solved. Worth the cost too.

I'm really glad we stopped watching the tube. Some people have expressed amazement about our ability to do so. With the exception of the Presidential debates and watching the first several episodes of the Glenn Beck show we've done it.

We just turn the damned thing off. Kind of a shame since we get free cable (thats another story) but once you set your mind to it, not all that difficult.

Where's the feminazi outrage?

Did all the women get boned by this one guy?

If so, he's quite the stud. But in the more likely scenario that involves several other men for these women, why aren't we hearing any screams of outrage from the likes of NOW?

But if someone proposes limits on abortion you'll hear those harpies sing like the Temptations.

It's not like we Americans never put our two cents into how another country treats their citizens, remember all the public statements agains apartheid when South Africa was ruled by whites? Even Bill Cosby had a banner displayed on the his set of the Huxtable house. But nary a peep from anyone concerning the actions of any followers of the pedophile prophet.

And someone better tell me again how Christianity and Islam share so many similarities, I'm missing it here. This crap doesn't happen in Spain, Italy or Ireland.

This is one doll my daughter will NOT have.

How low do we go anyway? This is supposed to be a doll for little girls? Hey, I remember Barbie as something the kids in my neighborhood played with, kids about the age of eight or so. This is what they've got now? You're shitting me!

No wonder so many girls are sluts and boys are thugs, with toys like this in what direction should we think they'll be aiming their lives? Come on!

And where the hell is the outrage from the feminazi's about the objectification of young women? Ooops, sorry. They're too busy hyperventilating over abortion rights.

Michael Savage is an idiot.

UPDATE: Now that I've cooled down a bit I'll admit to having a dog in this fight. My oldest son has some autistic-like behaviors. We DON'T know exactly what he has, it might even be a very mild form of autism, if so then we count ourselves lucky. He's unusual but very much a gift from God.

And everytime we go out in public and he starts acting out, a part of me just waits for some shithead to make the wrong comment to the War Department. I can still jack somebody into the nearest wall when I get pissed enough.

And Savage is still an idiot!

Yep, you see the same problem in Christian countries.

Or not.

I recall reading how some Christian groups were deadset against women in childbirth receiving pain meds. That whole "deliver children while you labor in pain" thing that Eve and the female portion of the human race was consigned to. (the quote is a paraphrase of what the Bible says, our copies of Scripture are in the daughter's room and she's asleep. Sue me.)

But that was in the early part of the last century and never had a lot of traction with mainstream denominations. Someone needs to tell followers of the pedophile prophet that we're now in the 21st century.

Never mind, it's as useless as talking to my cats.

The accidental governor plays the race card

Here's the story on the New York nitwit. Seems he's starting the "y'all hate us" game early. It'll get played more and more as time goes on. I still believe Obama will win in November, however that won't stop it there. Anyone voting otherwise will be labeled racist. Sheesh!

While I don't recall "accidental" being applied to the politicians he mentioned, I do recall that term used to describe Gerald Ford after he took office from Tricky Dicky Nixon. Last I heard, both those men were white as rice.

Just a thought.....

Reading a recent post at the Ignorant Redneck's blog got me thinking.

The consequences of sexual promiscuity and homosexual acts (AIDS, STD's of all stripes, emotional & mental problems) makes me wonder if they're built-in evidence of God's disapproval. Some religious folks might say I'm late to the party in expressing those thoughts, give me a break. It's been a long road back from my secular corner of Eden and I'm still working towards a better understanding of God and a deeper personal relationship with Him.

This sort of thinking will brand me a knuckle dragging Neanderthal by a good portion of the rest of society.

Hmm.

What was the STD rate amongst the Neanderthals? Just wondering.

Hey, the Civil War is over and YOU LOST!!!

Here's the story.

Normally I'd consider anyone who pissed off the NAACP to be alright. Not this time.

I've heard the Civil War being about "states rights" and other such bullshit until I'm sick of it. Really, come on. Let's be upfront and admit the whole damned thing revolved around slavery. If that wasn't the case then someone explain to me why membership in the Confederacy could only be held by those states that supported slavery. Thats a stone cold fact, check on it if you don't believe me.

It was all about slavery. Period. The matter was decided and trying to hold on to some mythical crap regarding the reasons for the Confederacy is just mental masturbation. So take down the Stars & Bars, get on with life and join the rest of the country.

Hey Confederacy supporters, you lost. The South ain't gonna rise again. What you believe was the South prior to 1861 never existed except in the minds of the deluded. Your silly assed flag is an insult to the memories of countless slaves, so stop sobbing about how it's a way to honor your ancestors. They might not have owned slaves but they were okay with it. THAT is what your flag symbolizes to too many of us and speaking strictly for myself it bores me to tears to hear your defense of it. If the Stars & Stripes don't suit you then move on, you won't be missed.

Why I support the death penalty

It's tied to this story.

Just so I'm not misunderstood, I doubt the woman could rise off her sickbed and go on a killing spree. She's in the checkout lane of life and the cashier is in sight.

The attitudes expressed by those pushing for her release are similar to those who cry for the pardon of too many killers doing life when those same killers have "turned over a new leaf". Hey, if they're given life without parole it should stick. Period. I don't care if they become an orange jumpsuit wearing version of Mother Theresa, a lifetime sentence should be just that.

But too often it isn't and the scum are allowed back out in society. For that reason I support giving them the needle. Society has yet to evolve to where we can be assured we're safe once a murderer is locked up, I don't care WHAT the bleeding hearts who abhor capital punishment think. I'm sure the majority of "the compassionate crowd" are living safely in neighborhoods where the biggest crime is spitting on the sidewalk.

I often joke about how the majority of crime listed in my local paper concerns loose livestock. It's true and a welcome change from when I lived on Garfield Avenue in New London, CT, a city where on more than one occasion I woke up to the sound of gunfire in the early morning. It wasn't from any local shooting range either.

But what I don't mention about this little corner of paradise in northern Texas is the girl that was brutally murdered about eight miles away shortly after the War Department and I moved into our home. Just a woman at home with her baby when some creepzoid broke in and killed her after she resisted him. Things like that make me appreciate the 2nd Amendment and the death penalty. Her killer's case is still making it's way through the court system, the state is pushing for the needle. Hope they get that verdict.

Bye-bye McDonald's

Throwing out any pretense of being neutral in the culture war, McDonald's has taken up the rhetoric of gay activists, suggesting those who oppose same-sex marriage (SSM) are motivated by hate.

AFA has asked for a boycott of McDonald's restaurants because of the company’s promotion of the gay agenda. AFA asked McDonald’s to remain neutral in the culture war. McDonald’s refused.

In response to the boycott, McDonald's spokesman Bill Whitman suggested to the Washington Post that those who oppose SSM are motivated by hate, saying "...hatred has no place in our culture." McDonald's has decided to adopt the "hate" theme used by gay activist groups for years.

Whitman went on to say, "We stand by and support our people to live and work in a society free of discrimination and harassment." Mr. Whitman has intentionally avoided addressing the reason for the boycott. This boycott is not about hiring gays or how gay employees are treated. It is about McDonald's choosing to put the full weight of their corporation behind promoting their agenda.

McDonald's donated $20,000 to the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce in exchange for membership and a seat on the group’s board of directors. The NGLCC lobbies Congress in support of same-sex marriage.

McDonald's CEO Jim Skinner said the company will promote issues they approve. "Being a socially responsible organization is a fundamental part of who we are. We have an obligation to use our size and resources to make a difference in the world...and we do."

Hey Jimmy, I have an obligation to act on my beliefs and I will. Get your money to fund the gay agenda from some other schmuck. Heellllooooo Sonic.

The battle for hearts and minds in America on the topics of abortion, gay marriage, etc.

The thoughts I'll express were started by an article regarding gay marriage. Here's the story.

IMHO those of us who oppose abortion, legitimizing sexual perversion and other acts of cultural suicide need to wake up. Trying to use the courts isn't working. Period.

If we're trying to legislate morality it only proves we've learned nothing from the lessons of Prohibition. When a majority of people feel an action is okey-dokey they'll do zip to stop it, even when they're not personally involved.

Our battleground for items such as abortion and homosexuality isn't found in the courtroom. It's in the classrooms of our public & private schools. That includes Sunday schools where an awful lot of what should be said never is. It's from the pulpits where all too often we get "I'm okay, you're okay". It's in our homes where we have to battle the relativism that seeps into our children's minds in the schoolyared. Once the hearts and minds of the people are won over the problem begins to diminish.

As an example of this I'd cite the attitudes, past and present, regarding the use of tobacco. Prior to the reports linking smoking with cancer everybody smoked just about EVERYWHERE. I believe the only places I didn't see someone lighting up when I was a kid in the sixties was in church, the movies (and there were still ashtrays in the one I went to, evidently it used to be allowed there) and school rooms (although I saw the nuns & lay teachers lighting up outside at recess). That was it. Every place else was fair game if you smoked and more people than not did.

Fast forward forty some years later, where the hell can you smoke these days? The venues are going away, some companies are even requiring their employees not to smoke at home. Don't like it? Guess you can go work somewhere else, it's a free country and private industry can dictate a lot of behaviors when they're related to their health insurance costs.

So if we want to turn the tide on gay marriage, abortion, the deterioration of our culture in any & all areas we have to start putting the word out in the right areas. Start talking about these subjects wherever possible, get away from the courts because we're losing our asses there. We're losing because it's hard to justify infringing on what often is perceived as someone's freedom. When we get the message out that "freedom" has very real negative consequences in this life we'll turn things around. Telling someone it should be against the law to engage in homosexual behavior is less effective than teaching them the physical & mental consequences of that behaviour. Trying to stop abortions by battling the idea of "choice" is a loser. Citing the physical, emotional & mental consequences of abortion and leaving it at that makes the prolife stance harder to attack.

Start educating our youth, have the topics addressed from the pulpits, keep pushing on getting the actual facts out. John Q. Public is pretty damned smart and can evaluate the facts on his/her own. And the facts are NOT getting out. Here are some examples;

Fact: AIDS is caused primarily by anal sex. What group of society is most likely to engage in that? We don't hear that one in public often enough.

Fact: Abortion is an act whose emotional consequences never go away. Another item we don't hear often enough.

Fact: Constant exposure to any behavior desensitizes a persons reaction to it. The apologists of graphic violence or pornography try to discredit that. But we'll believe it concerning tobacco use which is why it now figures into the rating of any movie. No one asks "How come the double standard" often enough.

The list could go on and on.

I'll stop here , you probably got the point five minutes ago.

These are just the thoughts of a retired turd chaser.

Slavery & Islam.

Slavery still lives, in Africa and other areas of the world.

As I recall it was a man named Wilberforce (sp?) who spearheaded the antislavery movement resulting in the death of it in Western countries. He was a Christian.

Quite a few slaves were freed after their masters coverted to Christianity, the letters of Paul in the New Testament stress the equality before God of both slave and master. That might have had something to do with it. Never hear of anything corresponding to that in Muslim countries.

According to some of the writings of Thomas Sowell, slaves taken from Africa were more likely to live better under European masters than Muslims.

Tell me again how Islam is a religion of peace and how it leads to personal improvement, maybe the slaves mentioned in the linked article would like to hear it also.

And why the hell do we have anything to do with these people, other than to fuel our oil addiction? An addiction we could satisfy via drilling on our own soil and going nuclear whenever we can.

So if she belonged to the Nation of Islam would the response of the Canadian government have been the same? How about if she was Palestinian?

Racial bigotry does exist and a good portion of it is directed against whites. Damndest thing is that the ones who practice it the most zealously are white themselves. Throwing the "racist" card is always guaranteed to put a white man on the defense, that can happen at any time.

Don't want Obama? You're a racist.

Don't want illegal aliens? You're a racist.

You want English mandated as the official language of the country? You're a racist.

Disagree with affirmative action? You're a, oh hell you got the message five minutes ago!

It's become a reflex action by the intellectually lazy and those who know their arguments won't hold up to the light of day. Sidetrack the discussion into having your opponent trying to prove a negative (i.e., I am NOT a racist) and you win by default.

What a load of shit.

And although this story took place in Canada you can bet your bottom dollar we'll see our fair share in this country, especially after the November elections.

Just how stupid can we get about "racial slurs"?

When I moved down here ten years ago I thought I'd gotten away from all the PC bullshit like this. Guess not.

A special meeting about Dallas County traffic tickets turned tense and bizarre this afternoon.

County commissioners were discussing problems with the central collections office that is used to process traffic ticket payments and handle other paperwork normally done by the JP Courts.

Commissioner Kenneth Mayfield, who is white, said it seemed that central collections "has become a black hole" because paperwork reportedly has become lost in the office.

Commissioner John Wiley Price, who is black, interrupted him with a loud "Excuse me!" He then corrected his colleague, saying the office has become a "white hole."

That prompted Judge Thomas Jones, who is black, to demand an apology from Mayfield for his racially insensitive analogy.

Mayfield shot back that it was a figure of speech and a science term. A black hole, according to Webster's, is perhaps "the invisible remains of a collapsed star, with an intense gravitational field from which neither light nor matter can escape."

Other county officials quickly interceded to break it up and get the meeting back on track. TV news cameras were rolling, after all.

Where does the stupidity of this crap end?

Officer sues LAPD alleging discrimination for off-duty Bible quotation

Los Angeles, Jul 8, 2008 / 05:38 am (CNA).- A police sergeant who has served as an officer for nearly sixteen years has filed suit against the Los Angeles Police Department, alleging he was illegally demoted and repeatedly denied promotions for his off-duty remarks citing Scripture verses critical of homosexual acts.

The lawsuit alleges that the LAPD has “historically discriminated against LAPD officers that engage in protected activity and continues to discriminate against officers that cite from the Holy Bible.”

Sgt. Eric Holyfield, who when off-duty is also a senior pastor at the Gospel Word of Life Apostolic Church, made the remarks on September 29, 2006 during his delivery of a eulogy at the funeral of Officer Nathaniel Warthon Jr. at a private chapel in Whittier, the California Catholic Daily reports. As he eulogized his fellow officer, Holyfield identified himself as a sergeant and Wharton’s supervisor, according to the suit, but was clad in black clergy attire rather than his uniform.

The officer’s family had requested Holyfield, who was on vacation and off-duty at the time, deliver the eulogy.

In the eulogy Holyfield quoted various Scripture passages, including First Corinthians Chapter 6 which reads in the King James Version, “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived, neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminates, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the Kingdom of God.”

Holyfield’s lawsuit, which was filed on June 19 in Los Angeles Superior Court, described the incident, saying “Holyfield quoted those chapters and verses, as well as others as he explained the following general statements, i.e., men should not lie with men; women should not lie with women; to do so was an abomination or sinful; one must repent or be condemned to hell…”

The funeral was not sponsored by the LAPD, but several high-ranking officers attended, including Deputy Chief Charles Beck. The lawsuit alleges that Beck said Holyfield “made disparaging remarks about gays, lesbians and adulterers during his sermon,” which is against LAPD policy. The suit claims Deputy Chief Beck “acted on his religious biases and initiated a formal complaint against Holyfield.”

In early October, 2006, Holyfield received a phone call from his immediate supervisor, Capt. James Craig, while at home on vacation. Craig told Holyfield he had received “a number of complaints concerning you in regard to the funeral. Police officers, community members, clergy people, and as a result, I’m going to have to move you.”

Holyfield was removed from his duties as Officer in Charge of Community Relations, which the lawsuit describes as a “coveted assignment.”According to Holyfield, he tried to argue that departmental policy did not apply because the statements were in a church outside the city, he was wearing civilian clothes and he was on vacation. He argued that the funeral was not “an extension of the workplace.”

Craig told Holyfield he would be returned to the detective division, allegedly saying, “you need to revert back to detectives or I’ll have to put you in patrol.”

Holyfield claims he has been denied promotions at least nine times because of his religious beliefs.

According to the California Catholic Daily, the suit seeks compensatory and punitive damages, lost wages, attorney’s fees, and a permanent injunction against the LAPD prohibiting similar actions against its officers in the future.

"Catholics" for Obama or "Catholics" for Moloch?

Political Distraction Among the Catholics

Is it a certain madness, a certain distraction of mind, induced by the sudden onset of summer heat? The polls in early June find Barack Obama notably behind among Evangelicals and whites, but--wonder of wonders--actually holding a slight edge, of a point or two, among Catholics.

Some of our readers know that I was associated with the drafting of the “most modest first step of all on abortion,” the bill to preserve the life of the child who survived an abortion. It was called, in that awful legislative style, the Born-Alive Infants’ Protection Act. When it finally passed the Congress in 2002, not a single Democrat in Congress voted in opposition. But Barack Obama, as a Senator in Illinois, actually led the opposition to the comparable measure in that state, and as the chairman of a legislative committee managed to kill it. How does one explain then this close division among Catholics, with a tilt actually in his favor? And what is the worse account: that most Catholics in the country simply do not know about his radical, pro-abortion position, or that American Catholics by now have heard about Obama’s position, and they don’t especially care?

The latter account would surely mark the graver state of affairs. And the signs seem to be pointing in that direction, as seen in the positions reported recently for two prominent Catholic academics, both thoughtful, sensible people, moving in those circles I move in myself. Douglas Kmiec, a good friend, had been Dean of the Law School at Catholic University and Cathleen Kaveny, is a professor of law at Notre Dame. Kmiec joined a meeting of Catholics with Obama and pronounced him a “natural for the Catholic vote.” Kmiec became persuaded that Obama, radically pro-choice, would nevertheless be open to serious measures for “reducing the number of abortions.” Kaveny could hardly be unaware of Obama’s position on abortion, and yet she thinks that other parts of Obama’s program would fit a Catholic vision--most notably, "ending the unjust war in Iraq, providing decent jobs, ensuring affordable health care for all, and working for comprehensive immigration reform."

On the matter of reducing the number of abortions, imagine that there is a wondrous scheme for diverting women from choosing abortions: Let’s suppose that, in counseling centers, we find that playing “You’d be So Nice to Come Home To” had the wondrous effect of stirring 90 per cent of the women not to abort their babies--especially if the music is accompanied by the offer of a DVD player. Surely it would be a boon to save those lives, but we should tremble at what the move reveals about the terms of principle on which we live our lives together. For what is left intact is the understanding, deeply absorbed by our people, that there is nothing less than a “right” to order the killing of an innocent human being for reasons that need not rise beyond convenience or whims, and with no felt need even to offer a justification. To offer this state of affairs as a gain is to celebrate a law that has the most pronounced effect in misshaping the souls of our people.

And the candidate who offers us this “concession”: Why should we even trust him to seek a reduction in abortions when he could not possibly share with us any ground of principle to explain why these human lives command our respect and our obligation to protect them?

As for the matter of “balancing” abortion with other issues, does that balancing not betray the most skewed principles of judgment? Put aside the case to be made for the why the war in Iraq was amply justified. Two days of abortion produce more deaths than the number of deaths suffered by Americans in the entire war. A year of abortion, at 1.2 million, dwarfs the number of Iraqis who have died in the conflict. Do we measure the “common good” --or what Prof. Kaveny calls “affordable health care”--by the convenient device of simply screening out those humans killed in abortion as persons that just do not count any longer in the reckoning?

During the debate between Lincoln and Stephen Douglas, Douglas suggested the diversity of goods at work in our national life: Maine had oysters, Indiana had cranberries, and some of the states used slave labor. Are we being asked now to adopt a similar state of mind, in which the killing of the innocent, on a massive scale, is regarded as just one of several “goods” that our people are equally free to choose, one no better in principle than the others?

To put things on the same plane, in that way is to betray a scheme of judgment with no sense of moral weighting or discrimination. Doug Kmiec and Cathy Kaveny share the vocation of teaching, but from either angle they would teach their fellow Catholics now that the central concern for the taking of innocent life is no longer, in the scale of things, that much more important than anything else. Even the most thoughtful among us may not always get things right, and at those times the office of friendship may be to call our friends to their better judgment.

Not much difference, one uses a furnace and the other a vacuum cleaner or needle jammed up between a woman's legs.

Frozen embryos better than fresh, study shows

Infants born from embryos which were frozen and then thawed before being implanted into a woman had a higher birth weight and were less likely to suffer abnormalities.

Fewer of the children were also twins or triplets.


Multiple births are known to increase the risk of complications as well as the danger to the mother.


More than 1,200 children born between 1995 and 2006 after frozen embryo replacement (FER) were studied and compared to 17,857 children born from "fresh" embryos.


Freezing embryos allows couples to have several In-Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) treatment cycles from the same egg collection, reducing the number of times that the ovaries are stimulated.
The eggs are placed in the womb three to five days after ovulation in exactly the same way as fresh embryos.


Multiple births accounted for 27.3 per cent of children born from fresh embryos, compared with 14.2 per cent when frozen embryos were used.


Babies from frozen embryos were on average 200 grams heavier on birth than those from fresh embryos, the findings presented at the annual meeting of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (Eshre) in Barcelona.


The proportion of low birth weight and pre-term FER children was significantly lower.


Dr Anja Pinborg, from the Copenhagen University Hospital Rigshospitalet, who led the study, said: "Most encouragingly, we found no increased risk of congenital malformations in the FER group; the rate in this group was 7.1 per cent compared to 8.8 per cent where fresh embryos had been used.


"We think the reason for the differences is probably positive selection of the embryos for frozen embryo replacement.


"Only the very top quality embryos survive the freezing and thawing process.


"And you only get pregnancies in patients with lots of good embryos to freeze."

This strikes me as wrong on a couple of levels. First is the assertion of a higher quality baby from frozen embryos. The War Department has spent some time as a pediatric nurse and on more than one occasion remarked at the high incidence of problems experienced in children that were the result of invitro fertilization. Seems the freezing process may actually damage the embryo. And I always question the truth of studies that seem to help push forward the agenda of the culture of death. For those who think I'm daffy, at one time physicians were doing TV commercials for cigarette companies. There also were some who initially disputed the findings linking smoking to lung cancer. Money talks and I wonder just who funded this study about invitro conceived children?

The second thing that twists my panties up my butt is the implicit attitude of choosing a child like a steak out of the supermarket freezer. Sorry but I look at my children as gifts from God, not the best cuts off the cow.

I recall reading a book several years ago that stated the last acceptable bigotry in this country was bashing Catholics. The noteworthy thing is that the author was an Episcopalian, he really made a good case.

Wanna guess how many snide remarks are made along the lines of, "They REALLY believe it becomes Christ's Body, isn't that funny?"

Yeah shithead, it's hilarious. About as funny as your mother's claim she was a virgin past the age of twelve.

Phooey. I know this is the wrong response for a Catholic, guess I've a lot of work to do. Noted.

Letting it all hang out in Georgia.

SAVANNAH, Ga.—Sometimes, it's better to look like a jailbird than sport a birthday suit. Police say Bill Merit, 49, left the Chatham County jail and began walking by the side of the road, naked. Witnesses called police, who arrested him and jailed him again on a charge of public indecency.

A police report says Merit told an officer that he didn't take the clothes jailers gave him because he thought they were stolen. The report says the man "appeared rational, except for being naked."

Jail records show Merit had been booked two days eariler on charges of criminal trespass and disorderly conduct. Chatham County Sheriff Lt. Thomas Tillman said Wednesday Merit remains in jail awaiting arraignment. He says he does not know if Merit has a lawyer.

ALTON, Texas—Authorities say an inmate trying to flee a Texas city jail crashed through the ceiling into a police chief's empty office.

Police say 17-year-old Jesus Albert Suarez Chavez and 22-year-old Roman Orozco Martinez tried to escape through air conditioning ducts of the Alton city jail around 3 a.m. Saturday, but had been spotted by a dispatcher monitoring security video.

One of the inmates fell through the ceiling into the office of Police Chief Baldemar Flores. The second inmate was trying to get into the vent.

Flores said he didn't know which inmate fell through the ceiling, only that the vents were very small.

Chavez and Martinez are charged with burglary of a vehicle, evading arrest, resisting arrest, assault on a public servant and making a terrorist threat. They are now being held in the Hidalgo County Jail.

A jail official says no attorneys are listed for the pair.

Why getting a vasectomy might not be a great idea.

Seems a guy in Romania found out the hard way.

Before I came back to the Catholic Church I'd thought about it very briefly. To be honest, the idea of a stranger wielding a knife that close to the family jewels gave me the willies.

For those who don't know, one of the founders of AA was a surgeon. According to some of the literature I've come across, at the end of his drinking career he would steady his hand with a few shots prior to entering the OR.

And the War Department wonders why I'm leery of doctors. Go figure.

This quote says it all, "A piece of muscle from the man's arm has now been attached to where his penis was, but its function is aesthetic." (emphasis mine)

Nope, I don't think so.

The shape of things to come?

I know this story comes from the UK and we're not in their shoes, YET!


But I'm thinking how it serves as a warning for those parents who put their concerns on automatic by believing, "the school officials know what they're doing". Noted.

IMHO if you place your children in the care of strangers for eight hours a day the least you can do is keep VERY close tabs on whats happening in the classroom. Having grown up under exactly the opposite attitude I can tell you all kinds of shit goes on when there's no parental involvement.

Is "stupid" tattooed on my forehead?

It must be.

I'm sitting here in a foul mood listening to my three toddlers who refuse to take their naps (the one year old just started singing) when there's a knock on the door.

There stands a nicely dressed young man, clipboard in hand, ready to pitch my signing up for another power company. He references three or four neighbors down the street as being new customers and lets me know I too can join the fun. I just need to provide some minor personal data such as my SSN, name, phone number, major credit card I have, etc.

Riiiggghhhttt!

He's also the third one to try this scam this year. When I ask for his city approved vendor's permit he tells me his boss has it and he'll provide said boss's number to me. Uh-huh. Why did that response not surprise me?

After sending him on his way I call the cops and let them know this jerk is in the area. They promise to check him out (they will, they're good at that).

Do I really look that stupid?

And my kids STILL won't go to sleep!

LAS CRUCES - A Sierra County woman reported her recent breast implant was damaged by a piece of plastic fruit, according to a Las Cruces police report.

The woman reported that on June 24 she was at the swimming pool of the La Quinta Inn, 790 Avenida de Mesilla in Las Cruces, when she was struck in the chest, apparently by a plastic apple.

According to the report, the woman was in the pool with several other individuals who were throwing pieces of plastic fruit they obtained from the hotel.

"I don't care what you do. I just can't get hit," the woman said she told the individuals.

Later on when police arrived, the woman said her right breast was sinking down and to the left. She refused medical attention.

The woman could not provide a description or a name of the individual or individuals responsible for throwing the fruit.
