Acting the fool in public.
And the beat goes on.......http://www.azstarnet.com/news/157162.php
The six Muslim "scholars" who were kicked off the US Airways flight in Minneapolis are in high dudgeon over their treatment. Seems that part of it included being kept in a holding cell where they heard loud music and at times were surrounded by police dogs. Poor babies. I had a similar experience during my drinking days, it gave me the motivation to stop doing things that might put me in jail.
IMHO, when you start acting out in ANY public area the authorities are totally justified in removing you. "Acting out" can include any behavior that doesn't fit the norm, e.g. praying publicly in a loud voice after talking trash about the war in Iraq. Yeah, that kind of behavior. What's the problem?
Look, if six Catholic nuns in full penguin outfits waltzed onto a plane where they made loud disparging comments about anything in particular and managed to make other passengers uncomfortable I'd be all for hauling them off. And you can bet there wouldn't be a lot of sympathy from other Catholics either. Why? We know that there are enough folks that DON'T follow our beliefs and practices that it's best to tread lightly in public. Just as lightly as the Mormons, Southern Baptists, etc. We all know to go along to get along. Welcome to America chum.
So why should anyone blink when these six knuckleheads get hauled off a plane for acting the fool. Especially after recent events such as the Brits uncovering a plot to bomb several airplanes in mid-flight. A plot by Muslims, you know, like these clowns in Minneapolis who just HAD to pray out loud in public. I've seen Muslims in European airports pray, they're just like my Aunt Beatrice with her rosary, i.e. discreet and quiet. Not obnoxious. But the carabineri in Rome's Da Vinci airport don't play around, you play the fool and you'll regret it. Pronto. At least that was so back in the 90's.
Muslims should stop looking for special treatment, they should STFU and try fitting in with the rest of us. While they're at it they might want to (finally) come out in an unequivocal manner against the 9/11 skyjackings. You know, condemn the bombers without a "but". Then they'll gain greater acceptance.
Until then they'll reap what they sow, and in THIS country it's going to get worse.
A cowboy, an American Indian and a muslim sat together on a bench. The Indian said, "Once my people were many and strong, now we are weak and few." The muslim said, "My people are still many and strong."
The cowboy looked at the muslim and said, "That's cause we ain't started playing Cowboys and Muslims yet".
No we haven't. Not yet.
