A Catholic who follows Rome & the Magisterium. I'm against gay "marriage", abortion, embryonic stem cell research, euthanasia, human cloning. Altar girls, Communion in the hand, Eucharistic Ministers and "Protestant" music in the Church doesn't bother me at all. A proud American retired submarine sailor. Our borders should be secured with a 10 ft. high fence topped by concertina wire with minefields out to 20 yards on both sides and an additional 10 yards filled with warning signs outside of that Let's get energy independent NOW! Back Israel to the max, stop appeasing followers of the Pedophile Prophet. Pro 2nd Amendment, pro death penalty, Repeal all hate crime legislation. Back the police unless you'd rather call a hippie when everything hits the fan. Get government out of dealing with education, childhood obesity and the enviornment. Stop using the military for sociological experiments and if we're in a war don't micromanage their every move. Kill your television, limit time on the computer and pick up a book. Good Intentions, Bad Idea.

Here's the link: http://news.yahoo.com/u-help-train-people-spot-potential-violent-extremists-100338697.html

Yes, we need to ramp up our efforts to stop followers of the Pedophile Prophet from giving their version of "high and tight" to the necks of their enemies (which includes most of the Free World).

But this sort of thing can be turned to other uses too damned easily. Today they look for potential recruits for jihad, tomorrow it could be Tea Party members, fundamentalist Christians, you name it.

I actually LIKE the idea of living amongst nut cases that are one step short of certifiable, it reminds me of my days in the military. I DON'T like the idea of legislating political loyalty, morality or anything else. For example, if theres a problem with too many people accepting abortion then it's incumbent upon the prolife community to get the word out about the true nature of things. Legislation doesn't help, look at Prohibition, all it did was erode the idea of following unpopular laws.

Can't those damned fools in DC do anything right?

Big Brother on how to roast s'mores.

We. Are. Doomed.

Here's the link: http://blogs.usda.gov/2014/08/29/us-forest-service-asks-how-does-your-marshmallow-roast/

Laugh as you will, this is an example of our tax dollars at work. Is there nothing they can't micromanage? I'm eagerly waiting for instructions on how to wipe my butt in full compliance with the EPA.

Boy are we screwed.

UPDATE: Looks like the information is already out there and only needing governmental approval. http://www.howtowipeyourbutt.com/

Things I obsess about at oh dark thirty

So first out of the box comes a story about some kid getting busted for writing how he killed a dinosaur. What, is Fred Flintstone his principal? Here's the link: http://www.nbc12.com/story/26319685/cops-summerville-high-school-student-arrested-after-writing-threatening-message-on-assignment#.U_Sna8ZblaU.facebook

Please note this happened in South Carolina, not exactly known as a hotbed for liberal thinking.

There must be something in the water, lowering the national intelligence in all states. I'd like to say this story is an anomaly but we all know different. For example, theres another story about a kid in North Carolina getting in trouble for saying, "Bless You" when a classmate sneezed. Another story out of Tennessee about a middle school teacher having her class reenact the shooting in Ferguson, MO.

I see kids are no longer able to sell snacks at school since they don't meet the federal guidelines for healthy foods, hell in some schools they can't even bring them in to celebrate a birthday! This was brought about by legislation pushed by our dear First Lady. Who the hell elected her for anything anyway?

But the kids are getting well taught in how to place condoms on bananas. Life is all about priorities I guess.

I also see how an archbishop in Oklahoma is suing to stop a Black Mass using a consecrated Host. Lotsa luck your Excellency; I don't think it'll work. As has been noted by quite a few folks (many of them Protestants) discrimination against Catholics can count as the last allowed prejudice in our time.

Speaking of which, a couple who rent out their farm in New York for weddings and other events were successfully sued by a lesbian couple for not taking their business. Same old story, in this case we have a Catholic couple not wanting to seemingly endorse gay marriage. Funny thing, my copy of the Catechism bears them out. It doesn't matter though, they've got to pony up about 130 K plus attend diversity training/brainwashing/reeducation camp and pay for their employees to do the same. Right now they're weighing their options regarding appealing this crap. Thought crime will be stamped out no matter what and damn that pesky First Amendment!

Dear Leader has sent the nation's top cop to Ferguson. Upon arrival he immediately root smooched the black community, saying he basically felt their pain. I wonder if this nitwit knows he's a servant of ALL the people, not just those he chooses to suck up to prior to all the facts being known about an incident? Never mind, previous actions answer that question (dropping any action against the New Black Panthers for voter intimidation in Pennsylvania comes to mind).

As for the international front, Dear Leader is busily addressing all problems (ISIS, Iraq, Syria, Russia & Ukraine, Central American children swarming our borders, etc.) from the front seat of a golf cart. Maybe we should count our blessings, if he went back to D.C. he might actually try doing something and then we'd REALLY have problems. He spends so much time on the links I have to wonder if his old lady isn't cheating on him. Seen it happen before, a cat don't stray if it's fed at home and just how often are those two together?

As far as him sneaking under the sheets with some honey, I really can't see it. Not that he wouldn't, he's just too stupid to pull off any deception.

That leads to my closing thought; we don't have a Manchurian Candidate in the Oval Office, he isn't a closet Muslim setting us up for the next caliphate, nor intentionally trying to foment racial strife nor actively work in accordance with ANY hidden agenda. Dear Leader is just a dumbass. Period. I don't think he could pour piss out of a boot without instructions on his teleprompter.

But if you want to see real "stupid", remember that a majority of voters placed him in office twice. THATS where the real stupidity kicks in.

Maybe there is something in the water, I wonder how it got there. Now it's getting really late and I'm ready for beddy-bye. Hopefully the world is still here when I wake up.

Getting involved in Syria

Doing anything in the way of military action because of Assad using WMD's is S-T-U-P-I-D.

Neither side in that conflict has our best interests at heart, there is nothing in that country we desire. Bombing Syria now would just be an exercise in feel-good diplomacy. The thing about bombing, even of the limited sort to show disapproval for nefarious acts, is that those bombed are going to have very long memories.

And what idiot thinks we'll just drop a few bombs, walk away whistling with our hands in our collective pockets and there will be no possibility of a violent response? For some reason "quagmire" comes to mind, ya know, that same word used during ANY recent conflict we've been in.

Hey, during the time Bush was in office I routinely came across Catholics who claimed complete pacifism was the high road to take. The only action they condoned in response to 9-11-01 was prayer. Let's do THAT, lets just pray for all the innocents in Syria. They'll both be very grateful for it I'm sure.

Just how stupid can the government get?

Apparently there is no discernible limit: http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/06/29/hare-brained-usda-reportedly-orders-childrens-magician-to-produce-disaster-plan-for-his-rabbit/

I recall reading somewhere that we have now reached a point where EVERYBODY is breaking the law in some manner unknown to them. This applies particularly to our IRS code.

Since ignorance of the law has never been an acceptable excuse in this nation, we can see how the ongoing persecution of the usual suspects is shaping up. I could cite several cases such as Sackett vs. EPA but is it necessary?

The idiocy of the government can be comical or it can be tragic. Either way, John & Joan Q. Public are footing the bill. Our tax dollars at work.

For it is written: "The stupid, they shall be punished"

HOUSTON — Houston police say a group of thieves broke into a house and forced a resident into a closet so they could ransack the place.
The closet chosen during the Tuesday afternoon home invasion was the one where the resident kept his guns.
Houston police Sgt. Jerri Brandon said the man, now armed, confronted the thieves and exchanged shots with them, wounding one and flushing all three from the home.

The wounded intruder collapsed down the street with gunshot wounds to a shoulder and leg. The other two fled in a pickup truck.
The resident was not wounded.

SBD's will get you in trouble.

Here's the story: http://www.thesmokinggun.com/documents/coworkers-attacked-by-gas-645132

Seriously, is this a valid use of our tax money? IMHO, it stinks.

Instead of farting around and trying to get this guy to put a cork in things, the bosses at this office should tell "Stinky" to get a high velocity fan. Yep, as noted in the report it may temporarily cause the smell to travel further. But speaking from experience I can state it'll dissipate much sooner. As to how I would know of these things, let's just say my favorite meal used to be chili and beer with pickled eggs for dessert. I always knew who my true friends were. I had none.

No wonder our government is so pathetic. Put the guy's desk in the hall and let him figure out what to do. Sheesh! The way things stand, any time someone does the "one cheek sneak" this clown will get the blame. I'd say someone should burn incense but there might be an explosion hazard involved here.

What a waste of taxpayer money.

The numbskulls are out in force.

So now there are petitions calling for secession making the rounds in 23 states, fairly soon we'll hit the halfway point.

But wait, there's more!

It's also been reported theres ANOTHER petition now garnering signatures. This waste of paper calls for the removal of citizenship and exile of anyone signing the petitions to secede.

Yep, nothing like coming together for the good of our nation. Nothing like it at all.

On a related note, I went window shopping at the neighborhood gun store today. From all appearances I'll soon need some serious home defense resources to protect the family.

I wish I was exaggerating in making that last statement, but honest to God I am not!

Speaking of the Almighty, may His will be done.

Secession?

So according to what I've read, representatives from about 20 states have presented petitions to the White House for their respective states to do just that.

Two words immediately come to mind: "Oh. Please."

Thats all I'll say for now.

They make 'em dumb in Massachusetts...

QUINCY (CBS) – A Weymouth man faces charges after he walked into Quincy’s police station looking to fight with officers, according to police.

Keith Hayes stepped into the station’s lobby Thursday night and reportedly told someone he wanted to challenge officers to a fight.

Police say that when officers came out to restrain him, the 39-year-old Hayes threw several punches in their direction.

Hayes was pepper sprayed, handcuffed, and charged with assault and battery on an officer and resisting arrest.

(End of story, my comments follow).

Truly it has been written; "The stupid, they shall be punished.".

"Put down that double scoop sundae and keep your hands where I can see 'em."

This just in from the People's Republic of Massachusetts via www.lowellsun.com :

CARLISLE -- Looking to hit the spot with a savory ice cream at Great Brook Farm State Park this week?

You may be out of luck.

The park's popular ice-cream stand was unexpectedly shut down by state officials over the weekend, after the stand's operator made building improvements at the site without getting permission first.

Mark Duffy, who has operated the dairy farm at the state-owned park for 26 years and has a lease with the state to run the stand, said armed Environmental Police officers showed up at stand on Friday evening and stood guard throughout the weekend, turning away customers craving delectable sundaes and frappes.

To make matters worse, said Duffy, the shutdown happened right before the sunny Mother's Day weekend.

Edward Lambert, commissioner of the Department of Conservation and Recreation, said the stand was closed after it was discovered construction had been done without local or state permits. The work, which expanded the stand, included construction on a barn built in 1910 that is adjacent to the stand, he said.

Lambert said he is trying to protect the public's health and safety while tests are conducted at the site.

"I like ice cream as much as anybody, so it pains us to even temporarily close what is an iconic property, but we have to make sure people eating ice cream there are safe," said Lambert.

Duffy said he has made countless improvements to the farm over the years without permission.

"The reason I'm here and the purpose of having me here is to improve the facility and operate a commercial dairy farm," said Duffy, 57, who lives on the farm with his wife. "I make improvements every single day and have for 26 years."

Calls to George Mansfield, the administrator of the Carlisle Planning Board, were not returned regarding local permits.

Lambert said it is not known when the stand will reopen.

There are 13 high-school and college students who work at the stand who are now without jobs, said Duffy. While there are 140 milk-producing cows at the farm, the ice cream is shipped in from Bliss Bros. Dairy, an ice-cream manufacturer and distributor in Attleboro.

Duffy offers guided barn tours at the farm from May to October. The building improvements in question were made to create an area to show an instructional video produced by the Massachusetts dairy industry, said Duffy.

The 1,000-acre park is located in Carlisle and Chelmsford. In addition to the dairy farm, there are more than 20 miles of trails available for walkers, hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders. During the winter, trails are open for cross-country skiing.

Duffy also operates a 40-acre cranberry bog that produces up to 100,000 pounds of cranberries annually. He sells composted cow manure and grows corn and grass, as well.

But without revenue from the ice-cream stand, Duffy said operating the farm could be financially perilous.

"On a diversified farm like this, the only way to stay in business is to make all the pieces work together," said Duffy. "I have expenses. I just don't have that income anymore. It's a seasonal business, but this was done on Friday at 6 p.m. on a beautiful Mother's Day weekend."

(End of story, my comments follow).

Now why couldn't the authorities just send someone out to talk to the man? In this economy it makes zippo sense to impact anyone's business by shutting them down.

I'd say I'm glad to be living in Texas, but we've got more than our share of governmental busybodies here too.

Somebody I can say, "I knew him when...."

Gee, the people you'll come in contact with.

The wingnut mentioned in this story: http://www.lifenews.com/2012/05/11/pro-abortion-activist-gets-prison-sent-pro-lifers-death-threats/ had actually left comments here a few years back. I always pooh-poohed his rants, remarking on how ten year olds needed constant supervision when using a computer.

Evidently he really pissed the wrong people off. Well he's got some time to improve his writing skills.

Stating the obvious...

So Obama & Co. thought it was terrible the way the Romneys' treated their dog. The supporters of Romney happily noted that in his own autobiography The One admitted to dining on canine in his youth. Seriously, can we focus on the issues instead of completely inconsequential crap that only appeals to PETA and other wingnuts who lack a real life?

And am I the only one that thinks the new Blogger design sucks on toast?

Killer flu developed? Ehh no problemo, what could possibly go wrong?

When I first read of this I wondered if someone was pulling some chain. No such luck. Here's the story: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/alarm-as-dutch-lab-creates-highly-contagious-killer-flu-6279474.html

If you've read Stephen King's "The Stand" you know where my thinking goes. Nope, I don't see Randall Flagg appearing any time soon. But this is bad enough that he doesn't need to make a showing. Take a look around you on a normal day and envision 60% of the people you come into contact with suddenly dying. BTW, there is NO guarantee you, me, or our families will survive either. Think "Black Plague" level of mortality here.

Just one minor question here, "WHO THE HELL THOUGHT DEVELOPING THIS WAS SUCH A GOOD IDEA?" The article states that it was brought about to insure a vaccine could be developed to counter it. What kind of bassackwards logic was used here anyway?

IAW the Bible, the Tower of Babel insured the demise of civilization due to the pride & arrogance of mankind. I think we're at that point again.

The ability to silence all MSM broadcasts, what could go wrong?

This just seems like a bad idea: Feds Will Temporarily Cut Off All TV and Radio Broadcasts on Nov. 9

No, I don't believe we'll see a massive "Night of the Long Knives" scenario where the current Administration wipes out all opposition. I think it'll go as planned and advertised with no problems. Everything will go just fine.

I just don't like a central control for so much of our news sources. Yes, the MSM is so far left it isn't funny. But they ARE available to put out needed information in the event of natural disasters, acts of terrorism, etc. A central "kill switch" that will enable some nogoodnik to take out a major part of our national communications capability is a case of carrying all the eggs in one basket.

Just my paranoid opinion.

How soon before the pogroms start?

So now the "Occupy Wall St." groups have started voicing anti Semitic rants. They've been endorsed by both the American Nazi's and the American Communists. This is in addition to the approval they've already received from Pelosi, Obama, Sharpton, and a host of other pols including Eric Cantor. That last proves the moonbat frame of mind isn't limited to the Democrats.

I wonder how long it will be before the USCCB joins in the lovefest?

How many folks have noticed the silence of the ADL about the Semitic slurs?

IMO there are a whole slew of idiots trying to fan the flames of this dingbat movement for whatever political gain might be had. They're all willing to ride that tiger named "Kill The Jews" for a while.

Have the damned fools thought of how interesting life gets when you try to climb off a tiger?

UPDATE: Evidently the ADL has called on “organizers, participants and supporters of these rallies to condemn such bigoted statements clearly and forcefully.” Bravo.

A breathing piece of cat food = a human life

Anti-whalers launch kamikaze operation
By Tamara McLean in Auckland

RADICAL anti-whaling operation Sea Shepherd is promising dramatic attacks against Japanese whalers in coming months, with volunteers warning they're prepared to die for the cause.

The group has announced "Operation Divine Wind" against the Japanese whalers, who plan to begin their annual hunt in the Southern Ocean in December.

The name translates to the Japanese word kamikaze, the name given to World War II pilots sent on suicide missions.

In launching the mission at the weekend, Sea Shepherd leader Paul Watson promised on the group's Facebook page a "very dramatic and adventurous three months beginning in December".

"I am confident that we will be able to stop them once again," he wrote in a statement "liked" by more than 2000 Sea Shepherd Facebook fans.

The Sea Shepherd has become increasingly successful in recent years at disrupting the Japanese fleet, last year taking it further when New Zealand activist Peter Bethune illegally boarded a whaling ship and was briefly jailed.

Angered by the campaign, which reduced the catch, the Japanese government has injected $US27 million ($27.71 million) into the program to improve the safety for its crew.

Undeterred, Sea Shepherd announced it will send 100 volunteers to the Southern Ocean and is prepared to lose lives if necessary.

"They will have to kill us to prevent us from intervening once again," Capt Watson said.

"Are the Japanese people ready to take human lives in defence of this horrifically cruel and illegal slaughter of endangered and protected species of whales?

"If so, my answer to the Japanese Government is hoka hey - it's a good day to die."

He also accused Japan of continuing its whale program solely to save face against activist opposition.

"It now seems they are simply obsessed with killing whales not for need, and not for profit, but because they believe they have the right to do what they wish and kill whatever they wish in an established international whale sanctuary, just for the sake of defending their misplaced honour."

He claimed the program was a "smack in the face" to foreign nations that donated funds in the wake of Japan's killer tsunami.

Japan's Institute of Cetacean Research has yet to comment on the claims.

(End of story, my comments follow.)

This isn't treated as a bunch of nuts making completely idiotic statements, its treated as hard news. In this day and age, it unfortunately is.

Not too long ago, idiots like this would have been laughed off the face of the planet. "You want to commit suicide for cat food? Have at it sweetpea!" would have been a popular sentiment. Not these days.

So the life of a whale is seen to be equal to that of a human, even those who disagree will do so with a muted voice. This is where the ideas of moral relativism and "judge not lest ye be judged" has brought us. These nutjobs will confront the Japanese whalers and you can bet they'll be sympathetically portrayed by the MSM.

I've read several places where Caesar decreed his horse be worshipped as a god and when Christians refused they were persecuted. So it's a safe bet a good portion of the populace of Rome went along with worshipping "Flicka". A lot of them probably did it with a smirk.

But how many actually bought into the insanity with a straight face?

How far from that level are we?

On moving overseas...

My overeducated moron of a brother-in-law is currently moving to Viet Nam while his equally "dumb as a box of rocks" father recently confided he wants to move to Costa Rica. I think they would both benefit from this:

But to be completely honest it'd probably be like trying to teach a pig to sing, i.e. you just waste your time and amuse the pig.
