Pope fails first test, better luck next time Poppa.
So heres the answer as to whether the likes of Pelosi & Biden would be denied the Eucharist in accordance with Canon Law: http://www.usnews.com/news/blogs/Ken-Walshs-Washington/2013/03/20/biden-pelosi-stir-controversy-by-taking-communion
Yep, they dood it!
Here's a pretty good analysis of it: http://www.catholicurrent.com/6/post/2013/03/politicians-and-holy-communion.html
My own take on it is that you can blame the butt kissers of the Curia all you want, the buck stops with our new Pontiff. He dropped the ball on this one.
Some of my fellow Catholics have very correctly pointed out that the Holy Father couldn't personally identify every pro abort politician that came to the altar. Yes, the world is a lot bigger than the USA. No argument.
But it doesn't take a brain surgeon to realize that pro aborts and deniers of other Church doctrine would jump at the chance to present an appearance of Vatican acceptance of their views. That is exactly what this does and if you don't believe it just wait until the voices justifying the "seamless garment" theory are raised in defense of our current President. Do you think the 56% of self identifying Catholics who voted for Obama won't see this as a godsend?
What could Pope Francis have done? Pardon my Monday morning quarterbacking but having a note sent to all visiting delegations that those denying Church teaching should NOT present themselves for Eucharistic reception would have worked. Especially if that note was passed on to the MSM covering the Mass.
Maybe I'm as wrong as a football bat on this. If subsequent events prove that then I'll be the first to admit my error. But right now I'm thinking this Pope is off to a very bad start.
But on the other hand, he DID come out supporting the environment, recognition of the poor and disenfranchised in this world. So that'll count for something. Especially with the tree huggers, income redistributionists and those uncomfortable with all aspects of Rerum Novarum.
So maybe it wasn't a total loss. Pardon my bitter sarcasm.

What did Pope Benedict do during his inaugural Mass? I honestly don't remember how he dealt with pro-aborts at his Mass, just wondering if something different had been done?
...Now I'm wondering why he had to resign :/
Unfortunately, I'll have to agree with you. The environment? WTHell???
By allowing pro-aborts to take Holy Communion, PF1 damaged his credibility at the very start of his papacy. The best way he can restore it is to start excommunicating all known pro-aborts and telling all the bishops and priest to deny it to them under pain of church discipline.10520 He will have to start in Rome itself to make this work.
