Thoughts on the Rep. Giffords shooting...
Well by now I'm sure everyone knows about this one: 6 Killed, Congresswoman Injured In Ariz. Shooting
From the looks of things, the shooter was a four-star nut. But looking across the blogosphere there are plenty of opportunists looking to link this with (take your pick here) Fox News, Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck, the Tea Party, etc.
My point? Things are getting more tense and volatile in this country. In times past nobody would have started the "blame game" over something like this. Case in point: the Kennedy assasination. Lots of tinfoil hat type theories over it then and now. But nobody immediately started screaming to blame JFK's political opponents.
Things are different now.
Watch your backs folks. There are plenty of nutjobs still out there. It's a different world than our fathers had to deal with.

Different, and worse. And for the record, I've seen people blaming the Daily Kos as well.
Rather than deal with a real issue, like polarization or the lack of trust we have in Congress, we will simply use this as an opportunity to scream at one another.
We might not want to admit it, but i think we are on the verge of a breakdown of the political process, that will become increasingly violent.
We just have to keep praying...For the victims' families, for healing, for a conversion of heart on the killer (Jared was convicted today). It's a different world, but prayer is still our greatest weapon.
We need healing, and sooner rather than later.
Cookie, amen. I've seen some libs saying their compadres should back off. Unfortunately I believe they'll be drowned out in the near future.
IR, I've run across a few like the one you cite blaming the Daily Kos. They struck me as more reactive to the shitstorm already being unleashed against conservatives in general.
I've been saying for a few years now that political discourse in this nation has gone into the toilet. Looks like someone just hit the handle to flush it down further.

It's just not the polarization or the difference between views, it's the distance. There used to be common ground between those who honestly disagreed on issues. No more.

And the Liberal media has long lost it's respectability and dignity as an objective observerer and reporter of events. It's tabloid journalism has relegated itself into the ranks lapdogs that lick the prostates of corrupt politicians - Democrats.

MRG, I'm beginning to think that might be EXACTLY a hope of theirs. I doubt they've some grand, intricate, involved scheme. But if a violent revolution started tomorrow they'd be at it's front.
Rick, well said. B.O. will fan any fire he can while the MSM will continue to support their ideological fellow travelers. Remember that this is a group that believes the ends justifies the means.
