Thoughts on the "Religion of Peace".
A couple of articles caught my attention today, both dealing with the "Religion of Peace".
In the first, which can be found on www.sandmonkey.org the end of Ramadan was celebrated in Cairo, Egypt by gangs of men cruising the streets looking for women to harass. The linked sites that go into more detail on this are well written and noteworthy for the tone of outrage they have. That's mentioned to give the devil his due, i.e. not all Muslims are animals. However after reading this article the first question that came to mind was, "If this is what's happening after Ramadan ends in a major Islamic world capital what's going on out in their boondocks? How many unreported rapes happened just because a woman was in the wrong time at the wrong place?". Needless to say, this story is getting zippo coverage by the MSM. Although if it happened in Rome after Lent all stops would be pulled in covering it.
That last swipe at our liberal media aside, what can be said of a religion that so devalues it's women they're fair game on the city streets, kinda like uncovered meat near a cat (now where did that come from?). I know there are plenty of moral relativists that will decry the objectification of women all over the world, not just in Islamic countries, and the case will be made that there are plenty of Western examples to be found. But that's a lot of crap. If I tried copping a quick feel in downtown Dallas on a Sunday morning you can bet your sweet patoot I'd be sleeping the night in the iron bar hotel, perhaps with a few less teeth than I started the day with.
The second article, found at www.aina.org deals with the murder of a Iraqi Christian Assyrian boy of 14 who was beheaded by militants at his place of work after they ascertained he was Christian. Nice. Incidental to this it shows why we've taken the wrong path to victory there. If we allow Islam to maintain it's dominance over there we'll soon have "Taliban Lite" ruling the country and giving us more headaches.
With both of these examples we're shown a "religion" that glorifies the most base impulses in man. Rape is acceptable, murder is fine, especially if either action is taken against a nonbeliever. I'm not an expert on any religion, I've got gaping holes in the comprehension of my own denomination. But I don't hear of Baptists doing this sort of thing. As far as that goes, if memory serves me correctly, at one time a membership in the IRA resulted in automatic excommunication from the Catholic Church. What religion, other than Islam, condones murder, rape, deceit, theft, etc. in order to achieve it's goals?
In line with that, several articles have recently noted Islam's recruiting success in our prisons. I can understand that one. Take a bunch of misfits, tell them they're victims and that any sort of violent behavior on their part is now acceptable when practiced against society at large, promise them Paradise for their efforts and presto! Another fervent follower of Allah appears! That's a better selling position than asking them to acknowledge that they may have sinned and have to do penance for those sins.
Not all Muslims are terrorists, not all are psychopaths. But it sure seems their "religion" doesn't focus on any sort of personal improvement as defined by anyone with sanity. And as I've always been told, you're either a part of the solution or a part of the problem.

What seems especially sad to me is that Iraq, while a dictatorship, before the invasion, was the most liberal and secular of Islamic societies. Not that it means much. Now the women are in burkas and must travel with a male relative, even to leave the house.
The most repressive and fundamental countries, Egypt, Saudi, and the UAE are our allies and as such receive massive military aid and assistance. It seems to me kind of like training an attack dog and then turning it loose in the yard with your wife and children.
We're going to have to deal with Islam in some decisive manner. It seems to me that we embarked on a path which tips our hand and drains our resourses without proper strategic planning as to long term goals.
On the other hand, what do I know? I was never more than a drunken E-4 Quartergasket. I trust our military leaders. They spend their whole lives learning to deal with this kind of stuff. I wish I trusted Bush and his cronies a tenth as much.
I'll admit to having bought into the "Religion of Peace" BS initially after 9/11.
However one of the things about life is the chance to improve yourself. With the limited resources at hand for John Q. Public that still allow us to come to a better understanding Islam's nature I'm puzzled at the almost willful blindness exhibited by our President and his Cabinet.
You're dead on about our support of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, etc. And we're going to regret it in the long run. I think part of our willingness to prostitute ourselves comes from our dependence on Middle East oil. We need to break that particular addiction ASAP instead of just talking about it.
If France (France, fer crying out loud!!) can have over 75% of their power generated by nuclear reactors what are we waiting for? It's time to do whatever is necessary, build more reactors, drill ANWAR, invest in wind, solar & whatever else will give us the energy our economy needs. Kick the tree huggers out of the discussion and get to work.
As that goes on we should be getting tougher with the regimes you've mentioned. Freeing Afghanistan only to see them turn into "Taliban-Lite" is particularly galling. If necessary for the continued safety of ourselves and our true allies (Israel comes to mind) we should occupy these countries in the same manner we did to Germany and Japan after WWII. If needed let's pull the troops out of Germany, Korea, etc. and place them in Afghanistan, Iraq and wherever else we need to.
Time to step out like we mean it. These idiots only respect force, we should bring it to them.
Unfortunately, if we don't get moving soon events will overtake us. We'll find ourselves in a corner, some "leader" will appear with drastic, draconian solutions and we'll follow him to a very bitter conclusion. A lot of innocents will get thrown under the bus.
In the long run I believe we'll win out but it's going to be a very long time coming. History will justify whatever bloodbath this might entail, but at the same time we'll look back with the advantage of 20/20 hindsight and wonder how we allowed ourselves to be so blind for so long. We'll wonder why we didn't lance the boil before we were forced to amputate the limb.
God help us all.
History has proven that Islam is a religion of conquest and subjugation.
If not for the "evil Crusades" all of Europe would have been Muslim, we would have never had the Renaissance, or discovered America, thank you.
Christians, nor Jews for that matter would have the freedoms they enjoy today, we'd all be paying the dhimmi tax.
