Canadian Hospital May Still Remove Baby Joseph’s Life Support

A Canadian hospital is still threatening to remove the life support for Baby Joseph Maraachli, a one-year-old boy from Windsor, Ontario, has been at Victoria Hospital in London since October a rare deteriorating condition that is not improving.

This comes after good news where the parents of the child thought he hospital would not remove the life support and where they hoped he would be able to be taken to a hospital in Michigan that would provide appropriate care and treatment.

The doctors who have cared for him want to remove his breathing tube but Moe Maraachli and Sana Nader took their battle to court to allow the tube to be removed at home , so the boy can die surrounded by his family. A Superior Court judge in London, Ontario, last week, dismissed the request of the Canadian couple to overturn a decision requiring the removal of their baby’s feeding tube in a hospital instead of at home.

Then, Alex Schadenberg, the director of the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition, told LifeNews.com in an email late Sunday that his group was able to help the couple find a new attorney and make progress.

Now, the hospital is threatening to remove Joseph’s life support and the Office of the Public Guardian may be getting involved in the case and could issue a decision forcing the removal of the life support as early as today, according to the CBC. The office could not get involved in the case on Monday because of an official holiday, and it was closed.

The CBC indicates the potential transfer to Children’s Hospital of Michigan is in the works. Victoria Hospital sent Joseph’s records to the hospital on Monday and the family’s lawyer, Mark Handelman, said he is doing everything he can to get Joseph transferred. The transfer has not been approved and Laurie Gould, a spokesperson for London Health Sciences Centre, confirmed to the CBC that no official request has been received from the hospital for one.

Schadenberg described the case in comments over the weekend: “Baby Joseph has a terminal condition. His parents experienced a similar tragic situation with their first child (a daughter) who died more than eight years ago. At that time the doctors gave their daughter a tracheotomy, that enabled the Maraachli family to bring their daughter home and care for her. She lived six more months and in the end she died naturally in the loving arms of her parents.”

“The Maraachli family asked Victoria hospital that the same be done for Joseph,” he said. “Victoria hospital refused and instead brought the family to the Consent and Capacity board to have the ventilator withdrawn. The Consent and Capacity board sided with the hospital. The family challenged that decision to the Ontario Superior Court who, on Thursday, sided with the Consent and Capacity board and decided that the ventilator would be withdrawn on Monday.”

Schadenberg says the couple is facing significant legal costs and donations to the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition will go to supporting them.

The Consent and Capacity Board of Ontario, an independent agency that is devoted to dealing with Health Care Consent Act, ruled on January 26 in favor of the doctors. Last week, Justice Helen Rady said she agreed with the board’s decision in a ruling that came just an hour after attorneys for both sides made their case in court, according to the Windsor Star newspaper.

As a result, doctors were to remove Joseph’s breathing tube on Monday morning.

“I do my best for my baby. My son is not a criminal . . . to just let him die,” Moe Maraachli said after the decision, according to the newspaper. “They are taking my baby away from me.”

Maraachli said he didn’t know how he would break the news to his wife, who was so emotionally distraught she was unable to sit through the hearing. He also did not know how he would explain the decision the couples other child, who is seven years old.

The baby’s parents want a tracheotomy performed on their son so they can take him off the respirator and bring him home to live his last days surrounded by family. The London hospital has refused to perform the procedure.

Matthew Archbold of the Catholic blog Creative Minority Report responded to the decision last week saying, “I can’t even imagine what these parents are going through. These people want a tracheotomy done so they can care for the child at home but the hospital’s saying the surgery is too risky so instead they’ll just remove life support and let him die. So…what happens if the tracheotomy fails? He might die. So to avoid the possibility of death the hospital is going to ensure death.”

This is beyond insane. "We won't do the tracheotomy so the child can die at home, he might die a little quicker at our hospital instead." Consequently they'll yank the ventilator and the babe will suffocate in his own fluids. Nice. Real nice.

Honest to God, when I read stuff like this I can't understand how anyone could NOT believe in the active presence of Satan in this world.

Another criminal mastermind caught and jailed

While our Justice Department is enthusiastically countering laws banning female genital mutilation, wife beating, etc. (covered here), the local police in Colorado are going after a real criminal mastermind:

ARVADA, Colo. -- An 11-year-old Arvada boy was arrested and hauled away in handcuffs for drawing stick figures in school, something his therapist told him to do.

His parents say they understand what he did was inappropriate, but are outraged by the way Arvada Police handled the case. The parents do not want their real names used.

They say “Tim” is being treated for ADD and his therapist told him to draw pictures when got upset, rather than disrupt the class. So that’s what he did. Last October, he drew stick figures of himself with a gun, pointed at four other stick figures with the words “teacher must die.”

He felt calmer and was throwing the picture away when the teacher saw it and sent him to the principal’s office.

The school was aware that the boy was in treatment, determined he was not a threat, notified his parents and sent him back to class. His mother, “Jane” was shocked when Arvada Police showed up at their home later that night.

She says she told her son to cooperate and tell the truth, but was horrified when they told her they were arresting him and then handcuffed him and hauled him away in a patrol car. His mother says she begged police to let her drive her son to the police department and to let her stay with him through the booking process but they refused.

They put him in a cell, took his mug shot and fingerprinted him. He says he thought he was going to jail and would never be able to go home again.

According to the police report, “Tim” explained he made the drawing to release anger and would never hurt teachers or anyone. At first the school did not want to press charges, but changed their mind when police called them later that night. A juvenile assessment report shows he’s never been in legal trouble before and is at low risk to reoffend.

He’s charged with a third degree misdemeanor, interfering with staff and students at an educational facility. The system says it’s doing what’s in the best interest of the child. But Tim’s therapist says handcuffing an 11 year old and putting him in a cell over something like this is “quite an overreaction” and does much more harm than good.

Arvada Police say because today is a holiday, they are not able to get hold of all the personnel and reports to make a response, but will be able to respond tomorrow. Tim is on probation and if he completes that successfully, the criminal charges will be dropped. But his parents say it has cost them thousands of dollars so far.

And if they had known that their son’s cooperation would be used as evidence against him, they would have hired a lawyer at the beginning and exercised their right to remain silent.

So a special needs child was interrogated, cuffed and jailed. Uh-huh.

Actually, the last group I blame in this are the police, they've a tough job and I always give cops the benefit of the doubt. Even the flaming assholes that might use their badge to inflate their ego. I wouldn't want that particularly thankless job, it's unbelievably tough and appallingly under appreciated. In this particular case they're basically cornered into following the wishes of the school district. Thats where several decades of Monday-morning-quarterbacking of the police in this nation has brought us. Just my opinion.

But whoever in the school administration green lighted pressing charges should be fired PDQ. You would think someone who deals with children would have a better understanding of how to handle things.

Here was a kid, venting his frustrations in the exact way prescribed by a therapist employed by the school district! These things are done so the kid DOESN'T internalize his anger and have it come boiling out in an inappropriate manner. Having employed such techniques myself, I can honestly state they DO work!

Would anyone care to guess how many times my classmates and I dreamed of assassinating the nuns who taught us back at Our Lady of Perpetual Payments Elementary School? I'll only say that in my preadolescent mind they each died in a slow, agonizing manner several times. Had I put it down on paper and "Sister" caught it you can bet my ears would still be ringing from the walloping received. My parents might even have been called and THEY would have cheerfully participated in the butt whipping. But calling the cops? You're kidding, right?

Calling the cops and pressing charges against any 11 year old, especially a special needs kid, for drawing a picture is absolutely bizarre. What about asking the therapist (the professional most able to render judgment on this) for a threat assessment of the child? What about the administration meeting with the parents if that assessment is alarming enough? What about alternative schooling (something routinely used for special needs kids who are uncontrollably disruptive and aggressive)?

WHAT ABOUT SOME STINKING COMMON SENSE, COMPASSION AND ABOVE ALL, PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT BY THE SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION?

I tried locating the applicable school district's website in hope of contacting them and giving my opinion. I feel this is appropriate because you can bet they receive federal funding in some fashion, so as a taxpayer I certainly DO have an interest in this. There are three districts listed for the Arvada area, so that wasn't possible.

Bummer.


But don't worry, now that the local bureaucratic nannystaters are involved we can expect the local Child Protective Agency (CPS) to jump into the fray, crawl up the parents' asses with a microscope and make that family's life absolutely miserable for years to come.

The ABA's Jihad

The American Bar Association (ABA) has decided to undertake the fight for Sharia law. The ABA's Executive Counsel "has organized a Task Force to review the legislation of 14 states -- Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nebraska, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and Wyoming -- in which anti-Sharia legislation has been introduced."

The goal of the ABA's Task Force is to fight against these legislative initiatives by free people, and to develop "an informal set of ‘talking points' that local opponents of these initiatives could use to make their case in each of these states."

Oklahoma referendum related Rule of Law initiatives.

The Section's Executive Counsel has organized a Task Force to review the legislation of 14 states -- Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nebraska, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and Wyoming - in which anti-Sharia legislation has been introduced. In reality, Islamic law is the most radical and intolerant system of governance on the face of the earth. The ABA should be on the forefront of this battle. The Oklahoma ban was brilliant but poorly worded (which is why a liberal judge found it so easy to overrule the will of the people) and had 70% of voters approving of it -- it is clear that American people understand the Islamic threat to our constitutional republic.

Instead, our cultural warlords in the mainstream media, academia and entertainment strictly enforce the blasphemy laws of Islam, which command that one must not insult or slander Islam. In Muslim countries, blasphemy is punishable by death; in the West, it is your character that is assassinated if you dare to speak out against the Islamic supremacist agenda. Our last line of defense was always the rule of law. So it is particularly jarring and deeply disturbing to come upon this latest initiative from the ABA, the last line of defense against sharia creep.

Furthermore, the ABA's "Middle East Law committee" has promoted Sharia finance for some time, with the same warmly positive slant.

Unfortunately, the ABA is not alone in this. In late January, New York State Senator Kevin Parker introduced a bill to set up an alternative bond market that would comply with Islamic law regarding financial transactions.

Has Kevin Parker ever heard of the separation of church and state, or in this case, mosque and state? I'll be damned before my hard-earned taxpayer dollars go to zakat (jihad), or to the prohibition of pork, alcohol, and some forms of adult entertainment.

This is the financial jihad.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles City Council passed a resolution recently that decried "Islamophobia."

The term "Islamophobia" itself is an enforcement of Islamic blasphemy laws. Islamic law commands that there be no candor about Islam or criticism of Islam. Any truthful statements about Islamic supremacism and violence are considered blasphemy. That's why it is shocking that Los Angeles, which is just this side of Sodom and Gomorrah, is passing resolutions that accord with Islamic law. No one in America cares what and who you worship; just don't force it upon us. I don't care if you worship a stone, just don't stone me with it. And stop telling us how many Muslims don't commit jihadi acts. Of course they don't. So what? I don't believe in rewarding people for doing the right thing. I don't believe in congratulating people for not committing acts of violence against people outside their religion.

Thus the Los Angeles City Council's passage of this resolution opposing "Islamophobia" and repudiating violence against Muslims is a step back centuries into the dark ages. According to the FBI, "hate crime" against Muslims is at its lowest in a decade, but acts of jihad are accelerating at warp speed. Yet the Los Angeles City Council passes no resolutions against jihad, honor killings, misogyny, gender apartheid, Islamic antisemitism, kuffarophobia, etc.

Sharia is being imposed across state lines, across the country, by way of these varying initiatives. We must push back.

And the ABA has nothing to say about any of this; it is too busy fighting against anti-Sharia, pro-freedom laws. It is yet another terrible sign of a morally inverted world.

Conscience protection laws going away

Washington D.C., Feb 18, 2011 / 08:23 pm (CNA/EWTN News).- President Obama's Secretary for Health and Human Services, Kathleen Sebelius, issued new regulations on Feb. 17, canceling out numerous conscience protections for health care workers who have moral or religious objections to certain procedures.

The new rules claim to leave in place the protections for health care providers who oppose abortion and sterilization. However, they remove many other protections for caregivers, including those who are morally opposed to providing services such as in vitro fertilization, contraception – including chemical contraceptives that can cause an abortion – and facilitating sexual practices they consider wrong.

In her report describing the changes, Sebelius criticizes the Bush-era regulations, which clarified the rights of many conscientious objectors to opt of procedures, as “unclear and potentially overly broad in scope.”

Sebelius acknowledged in the final report that “a substantial number of comments in opposition to rescinding the 2008 Final Rule maintained that Roman Catholic hospitals would have to close, that rescission of the rule would limit access to pro-life counseling, and that providers would either leave the health care industry or choose not to enter it.”

The secretary is a professed Catholic herself, although her local ordinary Archbishop Joseph Naumann advised her not to receive Holy Communion in the Church, due to her strong and continued support of abortion.

In her Feb. 17 report, Sebelius sought to respond to Catholic health workers' concerns by noting that “under this partial rescission of the 2008 Final Rule, Roman Catholic hospitals will still have the same statutory protections afforded to them as have been for decades.”

However, it was precisely in order to solidify those decades-old “statutory protections” in significant ways, that the 2008 rule was made in the first place.

“The Department supports the longstanding federal health care provider conscience laws,” the secretary continued, “and with this Final Rule provides a clear process to enforce those laws.”

The purpose of the 2008 rule, however, was not simply to reiterate the content of existing laws, but to clarify how they should be applied, and to provide explicitly for their enforcement.

For this reason, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops had praised the previous rule as a “much-needed implementation of long-standing laws” – saying it clarified many “undefined terms” that allowed state and local governments to “attack conscience rights as though they do not exist.”

With those “much-needed” rules and clarifications gone, Catholic hospitals and health care workers may find themselves facing difficult situations without explicit protections.

Sebelius pointed out that her department would still be willing to receive and consider their complaints.

The portion of the 2008 rule that enables the Office for Civil Rights to investigate complaints from conscientious medical objectors is “being retained,” she said.

“Under this Final Rule,” she offered, “health care providers who believe their rights were violated will now be able to file a complaint with the Department’s Office for Civil Rights in order to seek enforcement of those rights.”

Dr. J. Scott Ries, a board-certified family physician and a vice president of ministry at the 16,000-member Christian Medical Association, said the rule change touched on areas of “critical concern for pro-life patients, healthcare professionals and institutions.”

“The administration has made changes in a vital civil rights regulation without evidence or justification,” Dr. Ries said. He criticized the regulatory action as a move that “diminishes the civil rights that protect conscientious physicians and other healthcare professionals against discrimination.”

Watch for the lawsuits to come in against Catholic hospitals. It'll be "death by a thousand cuts" as these institutions successfully defend themselves in the courts while being bled dry due to the financial costs.

They'll then find themselves with the choice of closing or caving in to prevent further legal actions they'd have to fight. This is where the Church will be further divided as some hospitals will choose to stay open and serve Moloch while providing medical care for the genuinely sick. The other facilities that choose to close will be roundly condemned as heartlessly adhering to misogynistic standards of a less enlightened time.

We'll see a continued push against the ones faithful to Church teaching, having those less loyal held up to them and the general public as examples of reason and moderation.

Thus the marginalization/persecution will begin in earnest.

Just a swinging in the wind...

So from what I've read, Mitch Daniels was the Man of The Hour at the recent CPAC. Seems his view of a truce on conservative cultural values is a winner.

This was the same CPAC where one of the sponsors was a gay group.

I've the feeling those of us opposing abortion, gay marriage, ESCR, etc. may soon find ourselves swinging in the wind. Orphaned again while the state of the economy takes first priority.

Reminds me of the conversations my wife and I had prior to her getting pregnant with our first child. I was hesitant, wanting to wait for more financially secure times. Her response of, "Theres never a good time financially for having children, let's get on with the show." brought me back to planet Earth.

She was right. Theres never a "good" time for starting a family. You either go for it or stay home. End of story. Once you start having kids you can say "bye-bye" to routinely eating in restaurants or buying whatever suits your fancy. But the trade off is more than worth it.

Damn, I'm glad that woman married me!

So taking it to the national level, there will never be a "good" time for focusing first and foremost on cultural values. When that happens everything else will take a back seat. From the looks of things the leadership of the GOP won't bite the bullet, they're too busy trying to garner votes.

Those of us willing to endure financial hardship for the sake of our nation's soul will find ourselves a lone voice in the wilderness. That'll be the state of our culture until some catastrophe happens to wake us up. It's happened before and it'll happen again, just read some history.

Sorry if this post is kinda vague and unfocused. It's a Monday morning, I've a full plate today and Veggie Tales is playing in the background.

The Imperial White House has spoken...

Washington (CNSNews.com) – White House Spokesman Robert Gibbs told CNSNews.com today that the administration will "rightly" continue to implement the Obamacare law even though the federal judge who sided with 26 states in declaring it unconstitutional said that his ruling was “the functional equivalent of an injunction” against the law.

In his ruling last week, Judge Roger Vinson of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida wrote that in his opinion an injunction is an extraordinary measure, particularly when a ruling is against the federal government.

The ruling said an injunction would be an extraordinary measure. “It is even more so when the party to be enjoined is the federal government, for there is a long-standing presumption ‘that officials of the Executive Branch will adhere to the law as declared by the court. As a result, the declaratory judgment is the functional equivalent of an injunction,’” it said.

However, Gibbs said that other court rulings were in the administration’s favor.

“There are many courts that have heard many cases on this. More than 12 have dismissed the case,” he told CNSNews.com. “Two have ruled in our favor as to its constitutionality. Two have ruled against us. Implementation of the health care bill rightly continues to move forward as the law of the land.”

A total of 27 states – a majority of the 50 states – have sued to have the law declared unconstitutional. Virginia brought its own case against the federal law, while 26 states led by Florida brought a separate case.

In both cases involving states, courts declared the law unconstitutional, with a primary focus on the individual mandate.

Last year a federal judge in Michigan found that the Affordable Care Act was constitutional, and later, a federal judge in Virginia dismissed a separate lawsuit brought by Liberty University that challenged its constitutionality, the White House has noted. In other cases, the courts dismissed cases or determined that plaintiffs lacked standing.

Gibbs referenced two states that are moving forward with implementing the law despite the litigation.

“Despite the attorney general’s participation in the lawsuit, the state of Wisconsin announced that implementation moves forward,” Gibbs said.

“I would point out that one of the state houses in the commonwealth of Virginia passed by a vote of 95-3 to begin setting up health care exchanges,” he added.

Abiding by the judge's decision until the case has been heard on appeal is the norm for this. By going forward with their agenda the denizens of the Executive Branch only reveal their contempt for the due process of the land.

So what else will they set aside when it runs counter to their wishes? How about election results in 2012?

No, I don't think the military would jump into any fray of that sort. IMO they'd distance themselves so far from it, we'd still be remarking on that fact decades later.

But there are some really rabid supporters of B.O. & Company, the sort of folk who feel the ends always justifies the means.

It's for possibilities like this the 2nd Amendment was written.

Pitypot ponderings...

So the kids missed out on school due to snow, starting last Tuesday.

On Wednesday evening (no school again), I drove myself and all three children to the ER. The youngest boy was pretty sickly. They diagnosed him with a viral infection, sent us on our way to get meds from an all night pharmacy (BTW, the roads still hadn't been cleared. Around here snow & ice are so rare everyone just waits for it to melt. That didn't happen until Saturday.)

Thursday no school due to the roads. Housebound again.

Friday night (still no school for anyone) I take the daughter to the ER. The boys stayed home with the wife (not working that night). Another diagnosis of a virus, another trip to the pharmacy. Turns out the pharmacy didn't give me everything needed and by the time that was discovered they had already closed (the graveyard shift pharmacist didn't show up for work, "the roads were too bad" (tell me about it). So much for a "24 hour pharmacy".

Saturday morning (roads are still shit) I drive back to get what was missed the night before, only now the order has been changed as per our pediatrician (Wonderful woman, I'd recommend her in a heartbeat. She took our phone call at home, spoke with the wife and steered us accordingly). Have to go to another facility because (gasp!) the original pharmacy is out of stock of the breathing machine I need.

Sunday I got a break from the wife. I was able to go to Mass. While there I thanked God for all my blessings.

Monday we keep the kids home for a followup visit with their pediatrician who diagnoses ALL THREE KIDS with strep. (Note to self, always doublecheck on the diagnosis of an ER doctor).

Tuesday one of our three kids is able to go to school. The other two stay home. One out of three ain't bad.

Today it snowed again. Guess what school district shut down for the weather.

It's times like this I try to keep the following scenario in mind:

A large number of endangered, unwanted, and unborn children held a town hall meeting on the 4th of July – alarmed at the brutal and untimely killing of millions of their brothers and sisters in recent years. That the murderous war waged on them had the full force and respectability of the law made their plight all the more terrifying.

Their complaint was humble and it was simple. They were not distressed by rising gas prices, or the deteriorating economy in general. They were not even frightened by the exponential increase of natural disasters. The threat of global warming or global terrorism did not greatly disturb them.

They had become an endangered species, and little had been done to answer their terrified and silent screams from the womb. They decided that the barbaric treatment that they and their fellow unwanted unborn human beings have had to endure for perilous decades was unconscionable and unbearable. They cried out to their Creator for inspiration and protection, and then unanimously they put forth a declaration. It began as follows:

“When in the course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of nature and the Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation. The first and pre-eminent right is the right to life. This truth the Founding Fathers were sure of, and anyone with any common sense at all is equally sure of it. 232 years after the Declaration of Independence was signed the amount of common sense that seems to be operative in many spheres of influence – most notably the courts and the political arena – can easily be poured into a very small thimble. The United States of America seems to have a death wish, and we have traveled far down the road to having that wish realized. When law divorces itself from common sense and spawns the illegitimate offspring of distortions of law, resulting in illegal laws – based neither on the natural law nor divine law – this undermines law itself, generating disdain for the law. Erosion of trust in the courts, or the system in general, is inevitable.

The genesis of the death wish is rooted in the fall of man that we see in the Book of Genesis. The substance of the fall is wrapped up in Lucifer’s pride, transferred to Adam and Eve – “You can be like gods, knowing good and evil.” The unholy, yet inevitable, consequence of that price is disobedience – eating the forbidden fruit. The ultimate end is death, as God said it would be. That’s the way it was in the beginning. That’s the way it is now. That’s the way it will be until time breathes forth it’s last moment.

The prototypical sin is pride, the pride that seeks to exalt the creature above the Creator:

“I can be like God.” Then, subjectively and arbitrarily, man tries to assert himself, imagining that he knows what’s good and evil for himself without reference to God and God’s law. This was the fall of the angels and the fall of man. The attempt by creatures to usurp what is only the province of God. Only God knows what is good for His creation.

In recent years it took the form of a self-inflicted heart wound when some dissident Catholics rejected the teaching of the Church, a teaching that clearly held that artificial contraception is intrinsically evil. Then, as Pope Paul VI had warned, it metastasized into abortion. From abortion it degenerated even further into partial-birth abortion. It was then a short and easy step to infanticide.

It’s hard to believe that we have degenerated to the point that we’ll murder a helpless baby should it escape the violence of an abortion and be born alive. Can a Catholic vote for such persons? [who support abortion] We are told, “yes” for a “proportionate reason.” What, I might ask, is the proportionate reason so weighty as to excuse supporting those responsible for what is tantamount to genocide?

The judges and politicians that support such barbaric practices are truly guilty of genocide: genocide – the deliberate and systematic destruction of an ethnic, racial, religious, national, or social group. “What is the group so target?”, you might ask. The group is unwanted, unborn children – tens of millions of them. The Supreme Court justices that gave us Roe v. Wade will have to plead temporary insanity in the court of history. There will be no defense in the highest Court that is the judgment seat of almighty God if they do not repent of the incalculable evil they have wrought.

Yet, despite the life and death importance of this travesty of authentic law, there will be no serious discussion among political candidates, or anyone else. It is as if society has been bewitched, blind to the splendor of truth, deaf to the cries of the most innocent, most vulnerable, and most utterly helpless.

From artificial contraception to abortion to partial-birth abortion, then on to infanticide we march toward the abyss of oblivion, a society marked for death…

At least I'm not in line for a headache...

As my 58 yr. old butt lies sideways upon the living room floor, our three year old (38 lbs.) is bouncing on my shoulders, her seven year old brother (65 lbs.) is kneeling on my right leg while the five year old (50 lbs.) is playing "king of the hill" on my right hip.

In two days I'll be aching all over and getting zippo sympathy from the wife.

Maybe I should teach them how to play checkers, it might not be so painful.

"§709- Sale of toy guns to minors prohibited. (1) It shall be unlawful to sell, attempt to sell, or offer for sale a toy gun to a minor under eighteen years of age...

So if I read this correctly, any kid buying a water pistol will be in deep kimchi.

Cops Charge 7-Year-Old for Bringing Toy Gun to Class

A 7-year-old child allegedly shot a Nerf-style toy gun in his Hammonton, N.J., school Jan. 18. No one was hurt, but the pint-size softshooter now faces misdemeanor criminal charges.

Hammonton Police began an investigation into the “suspicious activity” at the Hammonton Early Childhood Education Center Jan. 18 after school officials alerted them to the incident.

The "gun" the child brought to school was a $5 toy gun, similar to a Nerf gun, that shoots soft ping pong type balls, according to the school's superintendent.

Officials also say that there was no evidence of anyone being threatened. The child's mother told school officials that she didn't know her son brought the toy to school.

Dr. Dan Blachford, the Hammonton Board of Education superintendent, said the school has a zero tolerance policy.

"We are just very vigilant and we feel that if we draw a very strict line then we have much less worry about someone bringing in something dangerous," said Blachford.

Deseire Gherard, a parent of one of the students at the school, agrees with the policy.

"I'd rather it be dealt with more severely than not," said Gherard. "I would rather them go a little bit too far for the safety of all the children then to say 'okay, it was probably nothing.'"

Police charged the 7-year-old with possessing an imitation firearm in or on an education institution – a misdemeanor and a minor juvenile offense in New Jersey.

School officials described the child as "a nice kid" and "a good student." Authorities haven't commented on what specific disciplinary action or punishment the boy faces though it could involve counseling and other resources made available to the family.

Three More Videos Show Planned Parenthood Helping Sex Traffickers

Live Action released today three more videos from the undercover investigations it conducted earlier this month of Planned Parenthood abortion centers helping alleged sex traffickers obtain abortions for underage girls.

The three new videos, covering Planned Parenthood centers in Virginia, join the two other videos the group has released of a Perth Amboy, New Jersey abortion business and a Planned Parenthood center in Richmond, Virginia — both of which had staffers helping the alleged sex traffickers find information on how to obtain abortions without facing scrutiny and get STD testing for the girls.

A Planned Parenthood staffer in New Jersey has already been fired, New Jersey officials are looking into a shoddy abortion center Planned Parenthood referred to in its video, and the Virginia attorney general has received the full footage of the Richmond Planned Parenthood expose’.

All three of the new videos clearly show staff willing to aid and abet the sexual trafficking and exploitation of minors and young women and the videos, Lila Rose of Live Action says, provide more evidence of a clear, disturbing pattern of gross misconduct by Planned Parenthood.

The three new videos includes a Roanoke, Virginia abortion facility staffer suggesting the sex trafficker consider going to the health department instead of taking the girls he is victimizing to the Planned Parenthood — because it would be easier to hide the illegal activity.

“They’re discreet. They’re confidential. They, you know, don’t tell people what’s going on, because — frankly — it’s nobody’s business,” the female Planned Parenthood staff person is shown saying on the video. “And the thing is, see this is the thing a lot of people don’t know that. . .Right, through the Health Department.”

The videos shows giving birth control and STD testing for underage prostitutes is no problem.

“From the age of 12 up, for birth control, you can just come in and do that. You don’t have to have a parent, OK?”

Another one of the new videos depicts Planned Parenthood staff in Falls Church, Virginia telling the sex traffickers,“We don’t necessarily look at the legal status, like I said. Abortion appointments do require photo ID. It’s nothing as far as records. It’s just photo ID that’s ever going to be required.”

And a video of a Charlottesville, Virginia Planned Parenthood center conversation with the sex traffickers has the staffer assuring them that “Anybody here can help you. Everything here is confidential. We can’t give any information out” — even after being informed that illegal activities are occurring that they wish to hide via Planned Parenthood.

“It is utterly disgusting that Planned Parenthood’s response to this is that their employee reacted ‘professionally,’” said Live Action President Lila Rose.

“The only acceptable response to encountering a self-identified sex-trafficker of underage girls is zero tolerance. The only ‘professional’ response is to immediately call law enforcement to the scene and push for an arrest. Our investigation – and their response – continues to show that an institutional crisis has engulfed the highest levels of Planned Parenthood. If you’re a sex-trafficker of minors or young women, you have a partner in Planned Parenthood. But if you are a minor or a young woman, you are not safe at Planned Parenthood clinics,” Rose continued.

The footage shows a man who identifies himself as a pimp working with underage girls. He seeks assistance for getting abortions, STD testing and birth control for girls he “manages” as sex workers, who are from out of the country and as young as 14 to 15 years old. The investigation continues to unearth alarming evidence that Planned Parenthood, which receives more than $350 million from the American taxpayer every year, is willing to facilitate the sexual exploitation of minors and young women.

“Today, we are sending Attorney General Cuccinelli and Virginia law enforcement officials new, disturbing footage from three Virginia clinics. The footage explicitly shows Planned Parenthood staff willing to engage in activity that sexually exploits minors and young women. The evidence continues to mount, and shows a clear pattern where Planned Parenthood is willing aid and abet the sex-trafficking industry. These are abhorrent practices and it is time Planned Parenthood be held accountable,” Rose said.

The ethics of idiots...

So amid the flap and furor over Planned Parenthood clinics being caught helping to promote teenage prostitution of illegal aliens comes the pious hand wringing of articles like this: http://www.mercatornet.com/articles/view/stung_the_ethics_of_entrapment/

IMO somebody is in serious need of a life.

The argument seems to go along the lines of "two wrongs don't make a right". Noted. Using this logic, all sting operations conducted by any law enforcement agency are wrong. All espionage conducted in the course of a war is wrong. Nathan Hale was a bum, the participants of the Underground Railroad were inexcusable criminals, the list goes on and on. I'd guess even Biblical characters such as Rahab (who hid Jewish spies in her home in Jericho) would have earned condemnation using the thoughts of "pious" folk such as the author of the linked article.

Let's say for a moment that the participants of these operations involving Planned Parenthood are in the wrong. That it can't be excused even with the thought of human lives being saved due to the increased scrutiny of the facilities shown on film.

I'd guess the actors can go to Confession, do their Penance and keep on keeping on just like all the other habitual sinners who show up on Saturday afternoons.

Another example of Planned Parenthood aiding underage prostitution...

This time in Virginia.




This was another sting operation, yet in both this video and the one posted the other day, the Planned Parenthood employee didn't even bat an eye over the idea of aiding minors in the country illegally who are involved in prostitution. That brings to mind two questions:

1) Just how prevalent is this scenario in the day-to-day operation of PP? The calm acceptance of the whole situation as presented to both workers at different locations suggests a high degree of personal experience with it.

2) How the hell do these modern worshippers of Moloch sleep at night?

IMO the most important thing to remember about ANY priest is the fact that his consecrated hands bring Christ to us in the Eucharist every time we go to Mass.

Planned Parenthood aiding underage prostitution...

This is sick. Our tax dollars at work.

The fatal hickey...

MEDFORD (CBS) – A woman was ordered held without bail Monday charged with killing her husband in Medford.

Police found 34-year-old Troy Burston wounded outside a home on Exchange Avenue at 10:40 p.m. Sunday. He was not wearing a shirt and had been stabbed in the chest.

He was rushed to Lawrence Memorial Hospital where he died.

Police arrested his wife, 39-year-old Shawntina Burston.

Investigators say the two had come home from a party and began arguing and hitting each other. She allegedly found a hickey on his neck and stabbed him with a cooking knife.

“This is another troubling incident of domestic violence turned fatal,” Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone said in a statement Monday.

“We allege that the victim was fatally stabbed by his wife during an argument, sadly leaving two young children behind.”

Shawntina Burston pleaded not guilty at her arraignment Monday in Somerville District Court.

"Back in the day" when I was in Uncle Sugar's canoe club it wasn't unusual for the crew to mess with one another. That would include sending some guy home with numerous hickeys on his neck after he'd spent a night aboard the sub on duty. His shipmates would waylay the victim and proceed with the kissing, just to put him on the spot with his wife.

One newly married guy from the western part of Texas (no navy there, let alone weird sub sailors) wasn't allowed into his apartment at first. It took a delegation of several crewmembers to persuade her he'd actually been attacked by his friends and not some passionate "hottie" out on the town. The hickey she had the biggest problem with was on his inner thigh. For some reason he didn't try for a career in the Navy, I wonder why?

Stories like the one posted above always make me wonder how fine a line we trod in our hijinks. Hard to think a man could get killed from being messed with.

I won't even go into the story about the guy who went out drinking with his "buds" in Hawaii the night before his wedding and woke up in San Francisco. Thats a whole different story.

Nor will I go into details about the guy who had "I screwed Suzie" forcibly scrawled across his chest with silver nitrate the day he went on leave to get married. That stuff turns black when exposed to ultraviolet light and doesn't wash off the skin, it wears off! Supposedly his bride couldn't figure out why he wore a "T" shirt to bed on their honeymoon. Again, a whole different story.

Some days I DO miss the sub service!

And for those who may be shaking their heads & clucking their tongues, just remember that they trusted us with nuclear weapons. Sleep tight, you're guarded by America's finest steely eyed killers of the deep!
