Just a few stupid questions that go through my brain here; Is it possible there have been other more successful contacts between various Muslim groups and the narco gangs of Mexico?
Are we looking at the shape of things to come?
Since many of our police are actively discouraged from asking about the immigration status of Hispanics, wouldn't this provide an easy access for 9/11-style massacres?
Or something worse?

Iran in bed with the Zetas? It would not surprised me if this was the case. There has always been a large secret population of Crypto-Muslims in Mexico and the Southwestern US since the colonial days. It wouldn't shock me if many of the Zeta gangsters were deep-cover Moriscos. (nickname for secret Muslims)
scotju, my wife is in contact with a missionary and her husband who see a lot of Muslims turning up in Paraguay. Not good. Not good at all.
Subvet, Islam is making a lot of converts among the indigenous populations in Central and South America.Many of these converts could be Moriscos coming out of centuries of deep-cover, as well as being newly minted Muslims.
