B.O. trash mouths a police department...
WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama said Wednesday that police acted "stupidly" in the arrest of prominent black scholar Henry Louis Gates Jr. and that despite racial progress blacks and Hispanics are still singled out unfairly for arrest.
"This still haunts us," Obama said. (Now what the hell would he know about this? B.O. was raised by his well-to-do grandparents in Hawaii. The fiftieth state isn't the Deep South, trust me on that one. As a matter of fact, go do a Google search on "Kill Haole Day" to find out who gets the dirty end of the stick for skin color in those islands. After that he went to an Ivy League college and his been either an academic or "community organizer" before entering politics. He has as much first hand knowledge of racial bigotry in this country as my cats.)
Obama called Gates a friend, and said he doesn't know all the facts of the case. (Saying that, he should have just shut his pie hole. But why let a political opportunity slip by?) Nonetheless, Obama said, anyone would have been angry if treated the way Gates claims police in Cambridge, Mass., treated him. Gates claims he was arrested in his own home after showing ID to police who responded to a report of a possible burglary.
"Cambridge police acted stupidly in arresting somebody when there was already proof he was in own home," Obama said during a prime-time news conference that otherwise focused on the health care debate. (Check out the police report, Gates was yelling at the top of his lungs at the cop AFTER the officer was satisfied he was actually the resident of the house. After being repeatedly asked to quiet down he was cuffed and led away. Hell, if I was singing at the top of my lungs in my own front yard I'd get the same treatment for the same reason, i.e. making an unpleasant disturbance.)
"What I think we know separate and apart from this incident is that there's a long history in this country of African-Americans and Latinos being stopped by law enforcement disproportionately," Obama said. "That's just a fact." (Going for all the political points he can, never mind trashing all police in general.)
The nation's first black president held himself up as testament to what he called the "incredible progress" minorities have achieved.
Gates' arrest followed a report of a possible burglary. A neighbor apparently saw Gates force the front door and called in a police report. Police came, and demanded that Gates showed identification. Gates was arrested shortly afterward for disorderly conduct, a charge that was dropped Tuesday. (Dropping the charges would be expected, getting pulled into the local iron bar hotel to cool off for the night is enough chastisement for most hot headed folks. But this is turning into a "Woe is me" moment for a race hustler.)
I understand the cop involved is refusing to apologize. Good for him. Too bad his supervisors don't tell Gates & Co. to pack sand.
The bottom line is this, a sitting President sees the opportunity to shoot his mouth off and he goes for the gold, never mind that he doesn't know all the facts of the case. B.O. should have just told the reporter he was unqualified to give an answer at the present time. Hell, just say making that judgment is "above my pay grade", it's worked for him before!

I suppose it would have too much to ask for Obama simply to have said that the issue was "above his pay grade."
Whoops, redundant comment; missed the last couple lines of your post the first time through. Replace the foregoing with this: "Well said!"
I can't wait to see some frmr cops chime in here...think I'll email them and prod them on over!
Hrrrmmpphhh!
Ah listen here Andy I does not intend to make light of this here incident. HOWEVER!!!
Being one who has strapped on the weapon, cuffs, and badge in a major metropolitian midwestern city I feel I have the right, nah, complelled, to respond. He's damn lucky he didn't get shot! I don't care what town you are in. As a police officer when you go into a house you have good reason to believe has a burglar still in it and evidence of a forced entry your peanut butter is pumping. I can attest to that on more than one occassion.
Not knowing what happened (because I wasn't there & neither was OB) I will not disagree with the action/s taken by the police officer before or after the incident. I will say in most jurisdictions the street cop has much more to do than harrass a citizen and arrest him for no reason. There is, frankly, too damn much paper work and it's not worth it!
I am going to email the Police Departemtn/City Hall in support of this officer. I am also suggesting we contact the local Faternal Order of Police and pressure them to openly support the officers dicision regardless of the consequences.
Of course I agree with MRG and Jim.

I have personally experienced very similar situations in my 21 years as a LEO. Your driving along, minding your own business and you receive a call regarding a suspicious situation. Upon responding, you are barraged with insults and inuendos alleging racial bigotry (even though my family is a racially blended family).
The "suspect or suspects", knowing he/they are in fact doing nothing illegal (something you are still attempting to determine), starts his shit, refusing to answer questions and/or generally giving you a big ration of shit. He/she/they keep coming back to the racial thing, and gets louder and louder as the attempted investigation goes on. Remember, at first you have no idea of what's really going on or who's who.
Eventually, after being harrassed and barraged with insults for just trying to do your job in a very respectful, polite and patient way, you reach that point where you just arrest the asshole (cause thats what he/she is) for "Dis-Con" or some such appropriate charge, which now lands yur ass in a whole world of shit because the asshole is non-caucasion. Now, if there are two or more of them, and only one of you, you're screwed!! It becomes their word against yours, and no matter how polite you were up until the actual arrest, there is no way to prove it, and your superiors now find themselves in a position to take punative action against you so that entire African-American, Latino, Vietnamese, Chinese, Puerto Rican, Jamaican, Haitian, Cuban or whatever community start yelling "cover-up". Let the demonstrations begin.
Yupper, in this highly politically sensitive environment, been there- done that
My grand kids are African-American and I DO NOT consider myself to be racist on any level, but the asshole(s) who you eventually arrest don't know this and only see a white cop and they are emboldened by the fact that they AREN'T doing anything illegal.
BHO was waaaay out of line criticizing the police last night in his televised press conference. He admitted that the didn't know all the facts of the case and sided with the black professor just because the professor is black! [spit]
Check out this common sense about the case and this video sermon by Pastor Manning.
A short excerpt from the first of the two links above:
One of the common-sense rules of life can be summed up this way: Don't Mess With Cops.
It doesn't matter if you are right, wrong, at home or on the street, or if you are white, black, Hispanic, Jewish, Muslim or whatever. When an armed law enforcement officer tells you to cease and desist, the wise person (a) ceases and (b) desists.
The End.
Like Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr., I am interracially married, currently live in a predominantly white neighborhood, have a healthy respect for armed men wearing uniforms, and have had the police come to my house in a confrontational manner, doing the job they're paid to do....Read the rest here. Outstanding!
Zerobama saw that reporter's question as an opportunity to remind us that A) he's Black and B) he's Prez.
to accomplish two things: America should still be feeling the "guilt" of slavery, and therefore should back his Universal Health crap, and also keeping that white/black wound open.
Commenting on the arrest of that black professor, after admitting that he didn't have all the facts demonstrates his withering ignorance.
UNQUALIFIED TO LEAD.
It is good to see this assclown imitating a president losing his cool. The Office is getting to him. He is a half assed community organizer and a scam artist, not an upper level executive by any means. He is failing to acclimate to the incredible pressure of this position.
He will continue to do and say self destructive crap as his self control evaporates and he reveals for all to see what he is made of .... nuthin'.
He is coming apart at the seams. It's going to be pretty.
BTW, I really liked what I heard one clear thinking woman reporter with common sense say last evening. "It took Obama 5 days to make a comment regarding the atrocities and brutalities following the Iranian election results, but on this relatively small local event, I he jumped right in before, as he admitted himself, before knowing all the facts." Excellent point!! I respect the "Office of The President", but certainly NOT the man holding it.

I love your comment, "...he's coming apart at the seams...."
His Achilles' heel,, is his total ignorance.
here's his backpedal....such a shit.
"This has been ratcheting up, and I obviously helped to contribute ratcheting it up," Obama said of the racial controversy. "I want to make clear that in my choice of words, I think I unfortunately gave an impression that I was maligning the Cambridge Police Department and Sgt. Crowley specifically. And I could've calibrated those words differently."
