SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - A special panel of federal judges has tentatively ruled that California must release tens of thousands of inmates to relieve overcrowding. (The governor of Texas did this a couple of decades ago, the result was a sharp spike in all categories of crime. Some folk are just too stupid to learn.)
The judges say no other solution will improve conditions so poor that inmates die regularly of suicides or lack of proper care. (Gimme a break, do they die because of a lack of fundamental care or do they die due to being mentally unbalanced to begin with. When I say unbalanced I'm talking about that condition that is just this side of getting them committed. Plenty of folk on the outside with that going on.)
They say the state can cut the population of its 33 adult prisons through changes in parole and other policies without endangering public safety. (Trust us!)
The three judges said a final population figure would be set later.
In Monday's tentative ruling, the judges said they want the state to present a plan to trim the prison population in two to three years. (Anyone reading this blog who resides in the Bear Republic, you might want to invest in some firearms. Either that or move.)

I'm trying to find a way out...My twisted way of cutting the prison system in half...arm the murderers and send them to Iraq to kill terrorists. If these people are going to be killing people, might as well be terrorists instead of the regular population

Actually, my first question is this: how many of them are non-violent offenders? And if they're not doing damage to other people or property, why are we jailing them?
Joe, wouldn't work for the same reason the Hells Angels were turned down for duty in 'Nam back in the day after they volunteered to train up and go "in country". Contrary to popular myth, Rambo has no place in our military.

Elizabeth, what crimes DON'T involve damage to other people or property? Getting put in the grand slam normally entails something of that nature.
