We already have gun registration in effect...

I've thought of getting a concealed carry permit, just to keep things tidy and legal. Texas is pretty lax on carrying firearms in the car, you can always claim you're either going to or coming from the range and that's supposedly good enough as long as your weapons are properly stored while driving. However I'm a follow-the-rules type and figured I should act accordingly.

But lately I've wondered if getting such a permit wouldn't have the same effect as gun registration After all, it's a safe bet you don't go through the hoops of obtaining one unless theres a need to justify carrying a firearm. Therefore anyone having such a permit is a gun owner. It ain't rocket science.
