Start of a New Year...
Spent most of the day doing domestic things (baking chocolate muffins, laundry, etc.). Went to 12 o'clock Mass with the hooligans while placing the hooliganette in the church nursery. For a change the boys were fairly quiet when they were supposed to be.
Had a "wept because I had no shoes, then I met a man who had no feet" moment when a family asked to sit inside of us on the pew. Their son was definitely mentally deficient, about ten or so and just drooling as Mom led him past me.
Came home, rented a carpet cleaner to get the smell of cat piss out of our rugs. Seems our oldest cat has taken to relieving herself in our bedroom rather than brave running past the children to get to her litter box. The children aren't mean, just little children wanting to play with "kitty". The feline is twelve years old, guess she's starting to slow down and doesn't want the hassle of it all. Maybe the solution is another litter box where she's safe from the kids, I don't put my pets down for being incontinent so THAT is not an option.
So after cleaning all the carpets except for the ones in the children's bedrooms I'm sitting here winding down. There are worse ways to end the New Year and I've done 'em.
Happy New Year.

Happy New Year.
I love you sweetie
SubVet,as my Dad used to tell me,no matter how bad you got there is someone worse off than you.
I hope you and yours and the family have a blessed New Year.
And that's why we have wood floors. We don't even have any decorator rugs anymore. When they get old sh*t happens. They can puke and p*ss all they want with no harm done.
My new year was fairly mundane also. We have to lose weight this year -- so let the diets begin apace. Best to you and yours for the New Year.
So, I am not the only crusty retired mariner who is doing a bit of extra field day because of a elderly side kick. I have a dog that is pushing 16 and she has her good days and her bad days.
Blessings to you and the family this year.
Mike, your Dad hit the nail right on the head.
Adrienne, the better half keeps threatening to go with wood floors. If this cat doesn't get better I may indulge her.
Sig94, yeah I've a few pounds to lose also. Tis the season and all that kinda stuff.
Nereus, thanks for the well wishes. Hope you and yours have an equally good year. Funny how pets become a part of the family.
