About Me

My photo
A Catholic who follows Rome & the Magisterium. I'm against gay "marriage", abortion, embryonic stem cell research, euthanasia, human cloning. Altar girls, Communion in the hand, Eucharistic Ministers and "Protestant" music in the Church doesn't bother me at all. A proud American retired submarine sailor. Our borders should be secured with a 10 ft. high fence topped by concertina wire with minefields out to 20 yards on both sides and an additional 10 yards filled with warning signs outside of that Let's get energy independent NOW! Back Israel to the max, stop appeasing followers of the Pedophile Prophet. Pro 2nd Amendment, pro death penalty, Repeal all hate crime legislation. Back the police unless you'd rather call a hippie when everything hits the fan. Get government out of dealing with education, childhood obesity and the enviornment. Stop using the military for sociological experiments and if we're in a war don't micromanage their every move. Kill your television, limit time on the computer and pick up a book. God's will be done and may He have mercy upon us all.

Aw nuts!

I recently began posting additional information regarding the military men & women who have died and been listed in the weekly R.I.P. post. This was done because these folks are more than names on a list. They were someone's spouse, son, daughter, friend. They laughed, loved, competed in high school sports, were civically active in trying to make the world a better place.

They were Americans and their loss is ours. There can't be much done by listing personal information about them, how they were remembered back home, etc. But it was something I could do.

The past two weeks finding any information other than "the bare bones" has been difficult. Maybe it's the season, maybe a glitch in the online news services, maybe I don't know how to do an extensive Google search. But it hasn't been there. So I haven't been generating the posts.

Whatever it is, it's got to be temporary. I'll keep trying to find the information and when I do it'll be put up.

It isn't much but the memory of those killed in the line of duty deserve at least that.

It does more than you can possibly imagine. You owe neither apologies nor explanations. We owe you our thanks. May the Peace, Love, and saving Grace of our Risen Savior be visited upon you and your family now and during the New Year.

I have been reading your blog for a couple months, pointed here by Arby a while back. I hate it when my feed reader shows you have new content. In fact, as I think about it, I don't like your blog at all--even as at the same time I totally appreciate all the effort you put forth here to honor our fallen soldiers. I don't like your blog because it points out so much--who died in defense of our country for one thing. I don't like the "died" part (because I wish they were all safe!).

It also points out to me how little attention media outlets pay to this information. Shame on all of us for not demanding to know more about those who are fighting for us.

I was thinking about the strange juxtaposition the other day. An NFL player died and grabbed headline after headline. I believe it was one of the coaches who talked about the team having a bond from being in the foxhole together. Training camp may be rough, but it is no foxhole. And yet, very few are covering the deaths of the true heroes, those who DO know the camaraderie born in the foxhole (or ship or whatever).

My son's deployment date to Afghanistan was recently pushed back from January to sometime in the summer. I pray you never have the occasion to print his name here. In fact, I'd love it if that portion of your blog dried up because all our soldiers came home safely.

So as much as I hate your blog, I also appreciate your blog for your diligence to make sure that these lives are noted and remembered beyond the remembrances of family. Thank you for putting a face to each sacrifice.
