They're slap happy!
This is completely idiotic.
Our second child is now 2.5 years old. This is the kid spanking was made for. He gets a smack on the butt at least once a day. It isn't that he doesn't hear what's being said, it's that he doesn't listen.
We tried other methods. For a brief amount of time having him stand still in a corner worked. Then it got to the point he would misbehave, get caught and voluntarily trot over to the nearest corner. Yep, it was hard to keep a straight face during that one! Especially when he looks you right in the eye as if to say, "Okay, what's next?".
I really wonder if people who advocate this garbage ever had kids. If they did I wonder how the little darlings turned out.

I've seen how they turn out. They're the ones who yell to their mom at the age of four "Get the Fuck off me!" when getting shots. And the mom does NOTHING!
I'm not making this up.
I always say....if they're like this at 4, imagine how they'll be at 14 cuz the personality doesn't change.
OMG. I have to say it being out of Massachusetts is not really a surprise.
I am with you. Our second sounds the same, and actually preferred the spanking. He would say no corner, spank.
Now like Mighty Mom said(in my words) if we don't not expect respect and train the children they will be cursing us later on, or actually something worse.
I must offer some comfort...by 7 he said he thought it would just be easier for all of us if he just listened.
The liberal agenda seems to always be creating a need. Don't spank a child..in the future deal with the child in jail and the residual careers...therapy, counseling, rehab, work release etc etc etc...
They're the ones that wack you in the head with a nearby heavy object when they're 15/16 because you didn't wack they're behinds with a light object when they were 5/6.
I don't know if you've had kids before, subvet, but let me tell you as someone with 54 manyears (or is it kidyears?) of parenting 4 kids, I credit spanking them as why they are the most behaved children you want to meet.
You know all those "angst ridden teenage years" that everyone bitches about? It's never happened with my oldest two (19 & 15). They have been nothing but respectful and responsible.
Jennifer is right about the jail thing.
