Update on Haditha 8.
Counsel for the Marines on trial for a supposed massacre in Haditha is charging that Pentagon officials intentionally misled or deceived the public about the case. (Quote from The American Thinker)
Story here.
It makes sense. Either the Marine Corp did a whitewash with the initial report when they should have investigated further or they're hanging these eight out to dry because they feel a need to clean up the image of the military in the eyes of the general public. Either way, the chair-polishing brass is playing CYA now. And it's being done at the troop's expense.
Why don't we get generals who will bluntly admit that war is Hell and not a Sunday ice cream social? Generals who will tell the public that to make an omelette you've got to crack eggs.
Yeah, the death of innocent civilians is tragic and should be avoided. But it's hard for me to feel sorry for folks who stand by while our troops get shot. And if children are involved then the blame should fall on their parents for implicitly taking the sides of the terrorists by their silence.
Does this sound harsh and cruel? Too bad!!
