"Thank You For Smoking" a primo flick!
The War Department and I saw, "Thank You For Smoking" tonight. I haven't laughed so much in a VERY long time!
Although I believe, with one exception, that anyone who smokes is a damned fool it irks me to always hear the "nannystaters" prattle on how we should align ourselves against Big Tobacco for the sake of (fill in the blank here, children, enviornment, democracy, the boy next door, whatever). Within fairly broad limits everyone should have the right to go to Hell after his own fashion. This movie seemed to make that point in the best manner I've come across yet.
If you smoke or don't you'll enjoy this film. The only ones who won't will be the zealots who are too busy figuring out what's best for "our own good". They'll be off on the newest Crusade anyway, so they'll never see it.
And that one exception I cited? That exception would be recovering drug addicts and alcoholics, we've got enough problems staying clean and sober one day at a time without making it more difficult than it has to be!
