A Catholic who follows Rome & the Magisterium. I'm against gay "marriage", abortion, embryonic stem cell research, euthanasia, human cloning. Altar girls, Communion in the hand, Eucharistic Ministers and "Protestant" music in the Church doesn't bother me at all. A proud American retired submarine sailor. Our borders should be secured with a 10 ft. high fence topped by concertina wire with minefields out to 20 yards on both sides and an additional 10 yards filled with warning signs outside of that Let's get energy independent NOW! Back Israel to the max, stop appeasing followers of the Pedophile Prophet. Pro 2nd Amendment, pro death penalty, Repeal all hate crime legislation. Back the police unless you'd rather call a hippie when everything hits the fan. Get government out of dealing with education, childhood obesity and the enviornment. Stop using the military for sociological experiments and if we're in a war don't micromanage their every move. Kill your television, limit time on the computer and pick up a book. God's will be done and may He have mercy upon us all.

The gungrabbers are dancing on dead children now.

It didn't take long for the gun grabbers of this nation to take advantage of the school shooting in Newton, CT. Found this via at;

A group of gun control advocates is planning to protest at Lafayette Park outside the White House at 4:30 p.m.

Nancy Robinson of the group Citizens for Safety says that several advocacy groups were already in D.C. for a leadership training conference when the shooting in Newtown, Conn. occurred.

“Tell Jay Carney today IS the day to talk about gun violence,” Robinson wrote in an e-mail announcing the event. “We demand a plan to stop the slaughter of our children.”

White House spokesman Jay Carney told reporters earlier that a gun control policy discussion would occur, “but today’s not that day.” Speaking publicly on the shooting in the afternoon, President Obama called for unspecified action.

“We’re going to have to come together and take meaningful action to prevent more tragedies like this, regardless of the politics,” he said.

Now we'll see them wave the bloody shirts of the innocent children, dragging their families into the limelight for no other purpose than to further their political agenda. We can expect them to be aided in this by our Dumbass-in Chief whose Justice Dept. STILL hasn't come clean on the "Fast and Furious" fiasco.

Never let a good crisis go to waste, even if it involves children, right?

Just to put in my own two cents; would those advocating greater gun ownership restrictions ever consider what might have happened if firearms were actually allowed on this school campus? I'm thinking about the Israelis and one occasion in particular when a school teacher grabbed an available gun and wasted the filthy scum shooting up the school.

Newsflash: Make it against the law to carry a firearm in any particular place and all the law abiding citizens will comply. Not so for the criminals. DUH!

I must agree with the newsflash. I seriously doubt the guy who did this was had a registered gun, with his gun and hunter's safety card in his wallet and a membership in the NRA. Just like I seriously doubt that the man who shot and killed my brother had the same credentials. This is why I feel more and more pressed to have my own protection at home. I friend of mine said that the bad guys are always going to have guns these days, the good guys are going to need them too to meet the challenge.

And the sad thing is, people are getting desensitized to this stuff. It's tragic, but you don't see people freaking out like they could. At least here, where I am, at my religiously affiliated school you don't see classes let out early for the day for some sort of gathering. We aren't having prayer or moments of silence. It's just the whole 'did you hear about the shooting? It's so didya get your Christmas shopping done?' But I guess this is to be expected with a society that doesn't bat an eye at killing babies.

It also doesn't help that so much of our entertainment is in the form of police shows like Law and Order SVU where people are brutally raped and murdered every episode in ever more brutal and unusual ways. This is our entertainment. And when it actually happens...its sad, but we're not...shocked. It's tragic, but it doesn't pierce us to the core. We need to protest that! Protest against this display of human beings doing unthinkable things to other human beings so that we can be entertained while being subsequently numbed.

Sweet God, help us all.

CWP, I'm sorry about your brother. You and he will be in our prayers.

You're right, it's a cultural problem. We glorify violence yat at the same time preach that we ourselves should never prepare for it. See my next post for more on that.

Yes, God help us all. Please.

Thanks Subvet. You and your family are in my prayers as well.

I typed this over at IRs:
Got some tips for one day having a firearm for protection even though I'm renting a room at an apartment? Surely there is a way to hide it so that no one knows about it!!! I just want some security. Especially if protection is going to be hard to come by, especially if the world is going to hell and especially, especially (yes I meant to type that twice) if Catholics are looking at some serious persecution in the near future

CWP, my advice would be to go to an outlet such as Cabela's or Cheaper Than Dirt Guns where you'll have a good sized assortment to choose from. Pick a gun you're comfortable with. Size doesn't matter as much as personal ease with the firearm, you're not going to be in a firefight like those shown in "blow 'em up big" movies such as "The Expendables". I'd adise to pick something you can pull out and use fairly quickly.

If theres a gun range close to you they may allow you to rent a gun in order to become familiar with firearms. You might also try to find a local chapter of the 2nd Amendment Sisters, the NRA, etc. Believe me, even in the "bluest" state you won't be alone in wanting to learn how to properly defend yourself.

As far as hiding your gun, if you're living alone that shouldn't be a big problem. If you share the apartment you might want to let your fellow boarders know what you're doing. Should they object it might be time to find other living accomodations.

When hiding it on your person, if you don't carry a pocketbook or purse you may want to start. It's easier to grab your gun out of a purse than a coat pocket. If you already carry a pocketbook or purse I'd suggest limiting the other items carried to a minimum so you'll have easier access to your gun. That sounds ridiculous but one former acquaintance of mine used to tell of how he got in an altercation in Philadelphia. When he reached for what he thought was his gun he pulled out a butter knife. His opponent laughed so hard it actually defused the whole situation, but that reaction would be an exception and not to be counted on.

In closing I'll relate that my wife found confessing ignorance about firearms when she purchased her gun led to her getting a lot of welcome assistance. Nobody starts off at the level of Rambo's knowledge, we all learn and most times are willing to assist others. Good luck and Goc bless you.

Hello Subvet!
Thank you so much for your advice. I just saw it as I've been hanging out at a lay apostolate house for Christmas. It was awesome, but no internet and so I couldn't see your very helpful reply!
Thank you and I hope you're having a wonderful Christmas.
