About Me

My photo
A Catholic who follows Rome & the Magisterium. I'm against gay "marriage", abortion, embryonic stem cell research, euthanasia, human cloning. Altar girls, Communion in the hand, Eucharistic Ministers and "Protestant" music in the Church doesn't bother me at all. A proud American retired submarine sailor. Our borders should be secured with a 10 ft. high fence topped by concertina wire with minefields out to 20 yards on both sides and an additional 10 yards filled with warning signs outside of that Let's get energy independent NOW! Back Israel to the max, stop appeasing followers of the Pedophile Prophet. Pro 2nd Amendment, pro death penalty, Repeal all hate crime legislation. Back the police unless you'd rather call a hippie when everything hits the fan. Get government out of dealing with education, childhood obesity and the enviornment. Stop using the military for sociological experiments and if we're in a war don't micromanage their every move. Kill your television, limit time on the computer and pick up a book. God's will be done and may He have mercy upon us all.

More on the Al Smith Dinner and Obama's invitation...

With thanks to The Ranter for steering me to this: http://blog.archny.org/index.php/al-smith-dinner/

So if this is to be believed (and why shouldn't it be?) the dinner invitation is just that. It's a carrying on of tradition and never mind what may have happened in previous years when some candidates were NOT invited.

Works for me. We're to trust in the judgment of our bishops to a degree many Americans find uncomfortable, this is a good example. We don't have to like it, just support them and hope it turns out okay. Let me add that trust isn't without reservations, if our clerical leaders engage in open heresy and schism then it'll be time to kick them to the curb and move on. It's happened before (England when Henry VIII broke from Rome and the only bishop to object was St. John Fisher) and it may happen again.

But in the meantime, we should back our bishops even when their acts go against political common sense.

Just my opinion.

I agree - and it's the hard lesson about obedience, because our wills proclaim that *we* are right, and how dare anyone say different. (Again, I'm not saying to encourage heresy.) Wasn't there a saint who said that obedience (and humility) to our superiors is one of the tests of holiness? (Now I can't even think of even a partial quote! Urgh.)

I've given my own thoughts on the matter. I don't agree with the invite, I do support praying for Cardinal Dolan though.

Trust in our bishops judgement?! Support them!? Not when they ask us to believe inviting an Anti-Christ like Obama is 'just a dinner'. He is the number one enemy of the Catholic faith in this country. The only thing Cdl. Squishy should invite this man to is a church pew were he can hear the gospel of salvation, preferably not St. Francis Xavier parish with it's pro queer crowd.

SV, I'm sorry, but I have no trust in Cdl. Dolan at all. It's just not a dinner invitation; it's a dinner invitation to the chief enemy of the Catholic faith in America. Consider this; would a pro-life organization invite Planned Parenthood's head to fund raising dinner?

Ranter, obedience coupled with silence IS hard. No doubt about that one.

Joe, agreement and support don't have to go hand in hand.

Steve, no apologies necessary. I don't expect a large part of the Faithful in the USA to agree with me. I only ask I not be accused of being in cahoots with the Devil.
