About Me

My photo
A Catholic who follows Rome & the Magisterium. I'm against gay "marriage", abortion, embryonic stem cell research, euthanasia, human cloning. Altar girls, Communion in the hand, Eucharistic Ministers and "Protestant" music in the Church doesn't bother me at all. A proud American retired submarine sailor. Our borders should be secured with a 10 ft. high fence topped by concertina wire with minefields out to 20 yards on both sides and an additional 10 yards filled with warning signs outside of that Let's get energy independent NOW! Back Israel to the max, stop appeasing followers of the Pedophile Prophet. Pro 2nd Amendment, pro death penalty, Repeal all hate crime legislation. Back the police unless you'd rather call a hippie when everything hits the fan. Get government out of dealing with education, childhood obesity and the enviornment. Stop using the military for sociological experiments and if we're in a war don't micromanage their every move. Kill your television, limit time on the computer and pick up a book. God's will be done and may He have mercy upon us all.

A personal vent about today's Mass.

Everything went fairly okay until the beginning of the Reception of Communion. This is where the priest genuflects, then holds the Host elevated over the paten saying: "This is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. Happy are those who are called to His supper."

Needless to say, up to the point the priest speaks it's so quiet in the church you can hear a pin drop.

THAT was when my two youngest children (6 yrs. and autistic, along with his four year old sibling who seems to be just a general hellraiser) decided to act up. The wife motioned for me to take them out and thus began a four-star, scream-at-the-top-of-our-lungs meltdown. We sit in the front so our kids can actually see whats going on and learn about their Faith, thus it was a long walk, dragging and prodding both of them to the doors. Yep, a very long walk.

This isn't the norm but by the same token we've had other memorable moments similar to this. Such as the time the wife and our oldest boy (8 yrs. old and autistic) were at Mass and the light of my life proclaimed at the top of his lungs, "Momma, I can't stop putting my hands in my pants cause my weiner itches!"

That was right before the Passing of the Peace, where everyone shakes hands with their neighbors in the pews. For some reason nobody would shake our boy's hand.

Ya know there have been times I've been introduced to church members whom I swore were complete strangers yet they'll say, "Yeah, I recognize you."

I'm starting to wonder if incidents like these play a part in that recognition.

(Sigh) I knew there would be days like this when I became a parent at the age of 51. Nobody warned me how much "fun" they would be.

Peace Brother!!!!

I will say a special Ave, Pater and Trisagion for you today, for you and your kids.

If it was always fun, it wouldn't be a path to holiness.

IR, too true. Every day I try to remember to thank God for everything in my life, no matter if it's bad or good. Some days life is just damned interesting though.

What's more boring than an easy life?

God bless!

Left-footer, boredom is never a problem here. Thanks for stopping by.

You have a beautiful family, and just remember that in your congregation there's a mother whose heart is breaking from the regret of not having a little baby of her own. You're giving witness on being a parent who keeps their cool even in the not so good of times!

Patty thanks for that reminder of how blessed I really am. You're absolutely right.

Bwahaha! Both stories are adorable and hiliarious, I hope I didn't wake anyone up laughing! :) I swear kids have a sixth sense for dramatic and inappropriate moments to play up.

Just keep reminding yourself, when they get older you can return the favour… ;)
