About Me

My photo
A Catholic who follows Rome & the Magisterium. I'm against gay "marriage", abortion, embryonic stem cell research, euthanasia, human cloning. Altar girls, Communion in the hand, Eucharistic Ministers and "Protestant" music in the Church doesn't bother me at all. A proud American retired submarine sailor. Our borders should be secured with a 10 ft. high fence topped by concertina wire with minefields out to 20 yards on both sides and an additional 10 yards filled with warning signs outside of that Let's get energy independent NOW! Back Israel to the max, stop appeasing followers of the Pedophile Prophet. Pro 2nd Amendment, pro death penalty, Repeal all hate crime legislation. Back the police unless you'd rather call a hippie when everything hits the fan. Get government out of dealing with education, childhood obesity and the enviornment. Stop using the military for sociological experiments and if we're in a war don't micromanage their every move. Kill your television, limit time on the computer and pick up a book. God's will be done and may He have mercy upon us all.

My knee.

Barring any unforeseen glitches, I'll have my right knee replaced in March. Since losing some weight would facilitate the recovery process, I'll be cutting back on the food intake and staying physically active. Blogging will be light from this point onward. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Growing old; it ain't for sissies!

Here's a diet I developed for myself almost three years ago; I lost almost fifty pounds over seven months (and then got stupid and quit smoking):

To help you apply it to yourself, here's an ideal weight calculator:

... and a calorie deficit calculator:

I have seen some amazingly fast recoveries after knee replacements nowadays. Attitude plays a role; stay positive and listen to your nurse!

Dude! Heard about the knee from Mighty Mom! Are you going to be able to use your vets benefits to gt it? VA or Navy or Army Hospital? That can get steep!

I'll drink my coffee black tomorrow for this intention.

Sorry to hear that.

I saw you offer the ordeal already. That makes it meritorious.

Anthony, thanks for the diet and I'll definetly give it a try.

Vigilis, my nurse emphatically agrees!

IR, thanks for the thoughts and prayers. It always could be worse, this is only a partial replacement.

Rick, thanks for that. Got to keep the right attitude. It could be worse, this is just a partial replacement, six or seven weeks of rehab and I'll be up and running.

You would do well in getting a lot of exercise to your knee. I understand that it hurts but it will help in the long run. BTDT

jack, I'll always listen to the voice of experience. Thanks.
