Ten years after...

Ten years ago we had our equivalent of Pearl Harbor, our own national tragedy on the same level as the JFK assassination. Both those events signified a shift in the national consciousness, both were definitive of the generations that were running the nation. 9/11/01 was it for the Baby Boomers (of which I am unashamedly a member).

Our own reaction to this tragedy has sucked on toast.

We've practiced moral equivalence to an almost unheard of degree. Instead of rooting out all traces of the ideology sympathetic to that terrorist act, our "leaders" have coddled and enabled those of a like mind with the perpetrators. This has happened on both sides of the political aisle, starting with G.W. Bush and his assurances that Islam was "a religion of peace".

Bullshit. If it's a religion of peace then dynamite sticks are birthday candles.

I don't know what happened at the highest levels of our government, why the decisions that were made happened. Why wasn't Saudi Arabia held accountable to a degree in this, the scum who killed almost 3,000 of our citizens were immersed in the Whabbi brand of Islam and that is sponsored by the Sauds. Was it all about oil? Why then haven't we moved towards becoming independent of Mideastern petroleum? Ten years would have been enough time for a good start on that.

Was it some other consideration?

Or are we just lacking a spine to knuckle down and do the hard work of eradicating that particular evil from this world? Are we too enamoured with our slothful way of life to "man up" and shoulder the responsibilities of any nation, especially the most powerful one on the planet?

You tell me.

I only know that we've done a piss poor job of retribution for that day. Yes, retribution and revenge, those are the things called for. It is what it is and there's no apology necessary for it.

I am sick of hearing how we shouldn't think of revenge. We damned well should, because when we practice it we're putting evildoers on notice of the consequences of their acts. That revenge that is so disdained serves to protect innocent lives yet untouched by a 9/11 style tragedy. It serves to rein in the evil behavior of those who wish us ill.

So yes, damn it, we should openly call for and practice revenge.

To hell with the "tolerance" and "understanding" we've been force fed over the last ten years. Guess what, it ain't working! Just think of the number of close calls such as the Christmas "Underwear Bomber" and the "Shoe Bomber" that we've had. Think of the massacre at Ft. Hood and how it can be directly attributed to a "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" mentality on the part of the military brass that refused to heed the warning signs exhibited by Major Hassan.

"Tolerance" and "understanding" will be the death of more of us. That isn't a prediction, it's a statement of future fact and God help us all when it happens.

It's time to call a spade a spade, stop kissing Muslim ass and start demanding an accounting. It's time for the really peaceful Islamists to stand up and condemn the jihadists. If there are no voices of condemnation coming from followers of the Pedophile Prophet then we can take for granted that the entire cult approves of what transpired ten years ago. We should then act accordingly in whatever manner gets the desired results of stamping out that "religion".

My children have a VHS tape of "Oliver and Company". In the opening scenes it shows a birds eye view of NYC, the Twin Towers are prominently displayed.

Every damned time they watch that video and I see that opening shot, my throat constricts a bit. I shit you not, it happens every damned time.
