About Me

My photo
A Catholic who follows Rome & the Magisterium. I'm against gay "marriage", abortion, embryonic stem cell research, euthanasia, human cloning. Altar girls, Communion in the hand, Eucharistic Ministers and "Protestant" music in the Church doesn't bother me at all. A proud American retired submarine sailor. Our borders should be secured with a 10 ft. high fence topped by concertina wire with minefields out to 20 yards on both sides and an additional 10 yards filled with warning signs outside of that Let's get energy independent NOW! Back Israel to the max, stop appeasing followers of the Pedophile Prophet. Pro 2nd Amendment, pro death penalty, Repeal all hate crime legislation. Back the police unless you'd rather call a hippie when everything hits the fan. Get government out of dealing with education, childhood obesity and the enviornment. Stop using the military for sociological experiments and if we're in a war don't micromanage their every move. Kill your television, limit time on the computer and pick up a book. God's will be done and may He have mercy upon us all.

Break's over, everyone back on your head!

So I spent the weekend on a men's retreat for my church. I was appointed sacristan which amounted to staying in the homemade chapel after the Eucharist was exposed and we had Eucharistic Adoration in gear. I shared the duties with the liturgist but my main purpose was to be the body on the scene. The Real Presence is never left unattended. That explains in part why I came home Sunday at 5 PM with only three hours of sleep under my belt since Saturday morning.

I was tucked in by the wife at 7, woke at 1:45 AM to the sound of my daughter in our bedroom, hacking and coughing. That was right before she threw up on the bedsheets.

Here I now sit while my little girl happily watches Curious George movies. She'll go to the doctor later in the morning, probably with the wife who is off today. It really isn't any big deal, we've been down this road before. As a matter of fact the doctor's receptionist doesn't even quiz us for information on the kids. She just verifies which one is sick (again) and tells us how soon we can come in.

In the meantime it's five in the morning, my daughter's meds have kicked in, the wife is asleep, the bedsheets are washing/drying while the bread maker preps the dough I'll need for making fresh doughnuts (chocolate covered of course).

Soon her brothers will wake up and chaos will ensue until they're off to school. I'll get dropped off by the wife so I can do a prayer vigil outside a local Planned Parenthood office, something I try to do about twice a week. Later we'll have lunch with the girl, I'll start the crock pot with a pork roast. One of us will get the boys at three and the chaos restarts once they're home. All of it will end about eight tonight, after which I just MIGHT get some more sleep.

It's just another week starting up.

Life goes on. Funny thing is, I wouldn't have it any other way.

Subvet,

Spoken like a true and loving parent. By the way, can you send me a couple of donuts? I'm out!

MRG, I've heard the best thing about grandkids is you can spoil them rotten, then send them home for the parents to deal with. A real win-win situation for the grandparents.
