This is what happens when the environmental crowd gets control of one political party. They have no science to back their environmental claims concerning global warming, but they'll fight the science shown in this news report. It's amazing and pathetic.
We are fully stocked up on halogen bulbs as of last week, since the last light bulb factory in the USA has just closed.
I started buying them about a year ago. We did a complete inventory last week and, for a change, Wally World actually had some halogen light bulbs. We figured out how many of each size we use, how long (on average) they lasted us, and purchase the additional we needed to keep us in light bulbs for about 15 years.
They fill one large plastic storage box and thankfully can live in the barn.
We even stocked up on chandelier bulbs even though I think they're exempt because they are "specialty' bulbs. Common sense tells me the price will be astronomical.
The only thing left to buy is the tube specialty bulbs I need for my antique waterfall lamps.
Alright, the government is hurting us. This has gotta stop! I am definitely going to be stocking up on the old kind of light bulbs.
I wonder how long it will be before these dim bulbs start handing down prison term for the use of unauthorized light bulbs.

I'm converting to LED bulbs throughout the house. The 7W bulbs I've been buting on ebay at about $16. each put out a really good light as far as CRI. And, plenty of lumens.
Having said that, I find the light quality from bright white or daylight CFLS acceptable. But, they don't last nearly as long as advertised.
And I've been using halogens since 1979. I make sure to use them in places where the bilb is difficult to change- they last longer.
