(Found at www.koat.com)QUESTA, N.M. -- A New Mexico National Guard soldier from Questa has died in Iraq from cardiac arrest unrelated to combat.

National Guard spokesman Jamison Herrera said 39-year-old Spc. Joseph Gallegos was pronounced dead Wednesday in Tallil, Iraq.

Gallegos was a light-wheel vehicle mechanic with the 720th Transportation Company out of Las Vegas, N.M.

Gallegos served in the United States Navy and Army and recently re-enlisted with the New Mexico National Guard after a five-year break in service.
