About Me

My photo
A Catholic who follows Rome & the Magisterium. I'm against gay "marriage", abortion, embryonic stem cell research, euthanasia, human cloning. Altar girls, Communion in the hand, Eucharistic Ministers and "Protestant" music in the Church doesn't bother me at all. A proud American retired submarine sailor. Our borders should be secured with a 10 ft. high fence topped by concertina wire with minefields out to 20 yards on both sides and an additional 10 yards filled with warning signs outside of that Let's get energy independent NOW! Back Israel to the max, stop appeasing followers of the Pedophile Prophet. Pro 2nd Amendment, pro death penalty, Repeal all hate crime legislation. Back the police unless you'd rather call a hippie when everything hits the fan. Get government out of dealing with education, childhood obesity and the enviornment. Stop using the military for sociological experiments and if we're in a war don't micromanage their every move. Kill your television, limit time on the computer and pick up a book. God's will be done and may He have mercy upon us all.

Parenting at 56 or, "I didn't bargain for this!"

"Yep, he sure enough broke it!"

That was the War Department about ten minutes ago, updating me on our second son's condition after she took him to the local ER.

The four year old tornado was playing in the "bounce house" we keep in the back yard. His big trick is to stand at the top of the attached slide, take a leap and cannonball onto it midway down. This whole thing is a colossal airbag, designed for the rough & tumble play of children. What could possibly go wrong?

Regardless of the "bounce house" design, his body isn't built for a half spin in midair causing him to land on the right elbow. I'm watching this crap so I know EXACTLY what he did! The immediate scream afterward let me know that all was not well.

The WD took him to the nearby ER and the rest is history.

Four years old and already breaking bones.

I can't wait for the teenage years!

Don't even mention his learning to drive. Just don't do it, okay?

UPDATE: This was the final result.

Welcome to the wonderful world of four year olds. I was lucky, none of my sons ever broke any body parts, even as teens with some of the crazy stunts they pulled, but they sure as heck came close.

Oh the wonders yet to come, and each one will add a new gray hair to your head, but in the end, I bet you would not have it any other way.

Ouch!
I am amazed anyone can raise kids without broken bones. Or stitches.
