Maine goes down the tubes.
AUGUSTA, Maine, May 6, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The Maine Legislature and the state's Democratic governor John Baldacci gave final approval to same-sex "marriage" this afternoon.
Governor Baldacci signed Bill LD 1020 less than an hour after the state legislature approved it, putting to rest speculation that he might veto the legislation. Baldacci had said earlier this week that he was opposed to homosexual "marriage" but was uncertain whether he would veto the bill. (More of the same mindset found in "Catholic" legislators who are pro-choice. Nauseating.)
"I have read many of the notes and letters sent to my office, and I have weighed my decision carefully. I have come to believe that this is a question of fairness and of equal protection under the law and that a civil union is not equal to civil marriage," Baldacci said in a statement. (Why should they be equal? The only reason homosexuality is no longer recognized as a mental disorder is political pressure. When was the last time a politician did what was right instead of what was politically expedient?)
"I did not come to this decision lightly or in haste. I think Maine people should be proud of the way this has been handled." (Pissing on the backs of Maine voters and calling it rainwater.)
In reference to his personal feelings about the legislation, Baldacci said "Under the Constitution, we are all the same. Times have changed."
The bill may still be overturned by a referendum, as happened in California last year. (Just wait till the gay lobby starts the personal attacks on any referendum supporters. You can bet they've learned a few lessons from Prop. 8 in California. This is going to get bloody. But five gets you ten it'll never make the MSM.)
"Just as the Maine Constitution demands that all people are treated equally under the law, it also guarantees that the ultimate political power in the State belongs to the people," Governor Baldacci stated.
Maine is now the fifth state in the U.S. to allow same-sex "marriage", following Connecticut, Massachusetts, Iowa and Vermont. (It's getting to be legally sanctioned to pack your neighbor's fudge no matter where you go. Terrific.)

Connecticut, Massachusetts,Vermont and Maine - New England is gone to the dogs. Pink ones.
Marriage isn't a sacrament. It is a contract. The State should butt out of it.
Marriage is too a sacrament of the Church, but yes the State should butt out. Pun intended.
There's still far more states that banned this abomination Deo Gratias!
As I said at dinner tonight - "the good part is that New England will contracept, abort, and "homo-sex" themselves right out of existence!! Good riddance!!
And why didn't you tell me about the Latex Floor primer?? We're going to get some tomorrow as well as leveling compound. Fix-all is a no-no.
Sub- We've laid all three of our houses with wood parquet so you wouldn't thing we'd be stressing over a few vinyl tiles....heh!
If the good Gov. thinks we are all alike he better think again. I am nothing like that sniveling ah..ah..man(?)!

The best I can tell, the vast majority of Americans do not want to legalize gay marriage.
But the left just keeps barreling ahead like a steam roller. Disgusting -- and a slippery slope, too.
