Remember this on Election Day.

I mean the Election Day we'll have for the new governor here. Found at LifeNews.com

Austin, TX (LifeNews.com) -- Texas Gov. Rick Perry held a press conference on Thursday afternoon to spotlight legislation to allow motorists in the Lone Star State to purchase Choose Life license plates. The plates are currently available 20 states nationwide and have been responsible for raising as much as $7 million for adoption programs and pregnancy centers.

State Rep. Larry Phillips is the primary sponsor of the bill, HB 109, that has the support of statewide pro-life groups.Jonathan Saenz, the director of legislative affairs for the Free Market Foundation, a pro-family group, told LifeNews.com that the plates are important because they give Texas residents a chance to express their views and support positive programs at the same time.

“The people of Texas have a right to proudly show their support for life and to encourage expectant mothers to choose life instead of abortion. Adoption is one of the loving alternatives to abortion and this specialty plate will help raise money to support such efforts," he said.

Kelly Shackelford, the president of the group, added that it promote the measure.

“There will be a heavy focus on this bill. We commend Gov. Perry for being a leader on this important issue,” he said.

Should state lawmakers sign of on the bill, the Choose Life license would join the list of over 130 specialty plates that allow Texans to support their favorite charitable cause through the purchase of their plates.

Funds raised from the sale of the license plate will fund nonprofit organizations that promote adoption as an alternative to abortion and assist expectant mothers who are considering adoption.

At the press conference, leaders of the Free Market Foundation were joined by Alison Morales, a Dallas resident who had a dramatic personal experience with a crisis pregnancy.

“I had an abortion when I was 18; I regret that decision. So I then chose life and adoption when I later faced a crisis pregnancy. I now work with expectant mothers in my community to make them aware of the loving decision of adoption, as an alternative to abortion,” said Morales.

Joe Pojman, the executive director of the Texas Alliance for Life and representatives of other pro-life organizations that support the Choose Life plat also appeared at the press conference.

From the looks of things, Perry will be facing off against Kay Bailey Hutchison, one of our current Senators. Hutchison, while a Republican, is an ardent supporter of "women's reproductive rights".

Damn Subvet! Those plates are a GREAT idear. Maybe with a little (probably alot) of effort, we can get something like that going in New York State, although with all the damnedable downstate (NYC) liberals, I doubt it will be easy. Good post mate!

An excellent idea and one which would work, too!
