Binding up the wounds...

Some bloggers and some radio personalities are now extending the olive branch, congratulating Obama & Co. while voicing the desire to stop the partisan bickering that has come to typify our political world. Great idea.

Let's see how well those overtures are received.

Remember that we're dealing with a group whose base includes 9/11 truthers, sufferers from Bush Derangement Syndrome, and reflexive advocates of the Blame America First crowd. To cite their strength with the winning side I'd just ask you to remember it wasn't more than a few months ago that Joe Biden said criminal prosecutions of the Bush Administration for the Iraq War were NOT off the table if he & Obama were elected. Pandering to the base? Sure, but how far does that go?

Some of these dingbats have been frothing at the mouth for payback since losing the election in 2000. Expecting calm reasoned dialogue with them is naive to say the least.

So before we start being willing to bury the hatchet, let's make sure the other side isn't planning to bury it smack dab in the middle of our foreheads.
