When he decided to forego public funds in lieu of private contributions to his campaign, Obama set himself up beautifully.

Yesterday he attended a $28,500 a plate dinner in California. Meanwhile, McCain continues the rubber chicken circuit in Ohio and other parts of flyover country.

Granted, Obama needs to raise his own money so dinners where people pay more for their plate of tofu than I do in two years for my mortgage are a necessity.

But his claims of empathizing with the vast majority of us start sounding real hollow after a few of those affairs.

He increasingly reveals himself to be an idiot, for further proof just recall the "lipstick on a pig" remark. Anyone with two brain cells working in series would have known to steer clear of that one after Gov. Palin's hockeymom/pitbull joke. Not old Barry though. This could be why he's selected Biden to be his running mate. Biden's gaffes will take the spotlight off of Obama's own goofs.
