About Me

My photo
A Catholic who follows Rome & the Magisterium. I'm against gay "marriage", abortion, embryonic stem cell research, euthanasia, human cloning. Altar girls, Communion in the hand, Eucharistic Ministers and "Protestant" music in the Church doesn't bother me at all. A proud American retired submarine sailor. Our borders should be secured with a 10 ft. high fence topped by concertina wire with minefields out to 20 yards on both sides and an additional 10 yards filled with warning signs outside of that Let's get energy independent NOW! Back Israel to the max, stop appeasing followers of the Pedophile Prophet. Pro 2nd Amendment, pro death penalty, Repeal all hate crime legislation. Back the police unless you'd rather call a hippie when everything hits the fan. Get government out of dealing with education, childhood obesity and the enviornment. Stop using the military for sociological experiments and if we're in a war don't micromanage their every move. Kill your television, limit time on the computer and pick up a book. God's will be done and may He have mercy upon us all.

Stupid question time.

I was reading an article about the wish list submitted to the Obama folks from a number of proabort groups. One of the points made by the article is that the term "abortion" is seldom used. Nice euphemisms such as "women's reproductive rights" get tossed around in it's stead.

Which got me to the shallow end of my brain pan with a question, "Why not call it what it is, abortion?"

The world in general knows what the nice euphemisms mean. Maybe theres a 99 year old lady out in the Ozarks who just got her radio hooked up with the first indoor plumbing she's ever had and who doesn't know. But the overwhelming majority of folk are aware.

I ran into this when the War Department left the Methodist Church. Their Book of Resolutions, which I understand gives their present day stand on various issues, came down hard and heavy for the protection of "women's reproductive rights". No gray areas about their opinion but no acknowledgment of what defending those rights entail. You'd think a major religious denomination would speak boldly about their beliefs, it'd help differentiate them from all the others. But nope, ain't happening.

Is it that too many proaborts would rather envision themselves as bravely manning the ramparts in the defense of rights for the underdog than as ennablers of de facto eugenics?

You tell me, I'm just a retired turd chaser who spends way too much time on the computer and not enough cleaning his house.

darling, the book then listed what "women's reproductive rights and healthcare" they were referring to, and it stated "abortions" in the list. Make no mistake, there is no wiggle room in the Methodist Church.

Read the comments from MM and then get back to cleaning the house! Unfortunately The Evangelical Lutheran Churches of America are about the same. They started studying the social issue of homosexuality in 2001 and met in Chicago in 2008 and couldn't decide what stand to take. They are studying it for 2 more years. Ya wanna read a bunch of gobble gook you should read some of the stuff they write from the home office. They also say it's ok to kill unborn babies if mommie doesn't want to step up to the responsibly of raising them.

The entire language of the pro-abort cause depends completely upon obfuscating what it is that they advocate.

"reproductive rights" is replacing "choice" as the codeword of the moment, just as "climate change" is replacing "global warming." It's the pravda of the day.

Oceania is at war with Eastasia. Oceania has always been at war with Eastasia.

That's part of it, I think.

In addition, many churches are caught up in moral relativism, as is much of our society.

And what are theology seminars teaching today? I know that back in the 1970s, one seminary for Methodist ministers was teaching that Jesus was a transvestite. I'm not kidding.

Just think how many present ministers in the Methodist church believe such things. A lot, I think.

If people called sin and immoral behavior what it is, it would lead to too many people suffering from feelings of guilt, which would then take all the fun out of indulging in said behavior and acts, but if you parse words and/or sugarcoat those sins using nice sounding euphemisms and plenty of obfuscations then, voila, no feelings of guilt.

Problem is, no matter how much gravy you put on dog poop, it will NEVER become Swedish Meatballs.
